Well it is wednesday and also New Year's Eve. So let me take a second to reflect upon the year. It started in January with me recording the album alone in my cold crappy apartment owned by the biggest.... Finished in March. Then put together the Joe Nacco band in support. By June we began playing out and getting wet behind the ears. After waxing the act in smaller venues, we stepped it up a notch and released the album in October. In the last 3 months things have just been unbelievable. We've had 5 featured articles in various newspapers all over the state. I got out of the ghetto of T-nizzel. We crossed over into the bar scene to infest our originals on the bar hoppers. We had the opportunity to play NYC three times. One of which was viewed by 4000 people and we were announced by Yolanda Vega. We've been all over the radio for ads and what not. Our song 'Breathe' has even received some airplay. Everyone of us has had compliments and noteriety from friends as well as complete strangers who have just flat out heard of us from our bumper stickers alone. I knew when I came back from Florida that this would be a big year for me, but I really had no idea it would be like this. I want to thank all the people who have supported myself and the rest of the band. We will continue to grow and feed off this and make 2004 an even bigger success.

(On a more weekly note) We did play Pinhead's on Saturday and whoa! If you were there you got it. If not watch Back to the future and see Heuy Lewis' cameo appearance. It went something like that. I think we're the loudest band in Schenectady and funny enough we're primarily a pop rock band. Hope to see y'all soon.

Merry Christmas Eve kids. I just went shopping last night at about 3am. We brought the camera with us. We also have the pictures up from NYC and Jillian's. There's alot of random people on pics so I suggest going there and finding out if on of them is you. Now I'm off to finish the rest of the shopping and then it'll be Christmas. So come down to Pinhead's and say Merry Christmas back or I'll find you and steal your Christmas..... Grinch style. Who who.

12/17/03
Well I just woke up and I'm drinking some coffee and trying to psyche myself up for tonight's show. We just received the unfortunate news that Joe Geracitano will be unable to make the trip to NYC for tonight's show. So for the first time we'll be perfroming as a 3-piece. Don't worry though, Joe G. will be back for Jillian's. So I've got 42 minutes til we all meet up at 'the van'! So I'll keep this brief.

Thanks for coming online. See ya soon!

12/10/03
It feels like there's a midget hanging from my necklace. I just got back online at home so this will make updating this web site a breeze. No more putting things on disk and heading to the library. Downfall, I'll never leave my home. Especially with cable and NBA TV. I do make occasional trips to the liquor store. But thats just around the corner.

In some band related news, we're getting ready to play a bunch of cool upcoming shows in NYC and Jillian's (as well as Pinhead Susan's). So we look forward to seeing you all. I changed one of the songs on the MP3 page. Now 'Breathe' is available to the public FOC. I had been getting alot of requests to put it back up, with it getting some airplay and all. So try to stay warm. I know I am.

12/03/03
God bless the catskills. What a great time. Im sure it's better in the summer, but we had a great time. Both of their local papers did stories and hopefully when we get our hands on em we'll put em up on the site so you can read em. Other than that, theres been some scheduling refinements, you can check that out on the dates page and also the pictures from the Catskills are up on the gallery page. Theres a cool one of Jeff outside the jail.

11/26/03
Well Valentine's went exceptionally well! We had a lot of fun and had a great turn out. Seems like for the first time I can ever remember playing where we had fans that weren't friends there. Insane. I don't need to tell you tommorow's Thanksgiving. You already know. I do need to tell you that we'll be at Mariner's Point in Catskill the day after. That should be alot of fun. I hope to see all of you there.

Personal note, my cold is gone and I'm running again. The whole thing was just crazy, but hey even Michael Jordan caught the flu once.

11/19/03
Good afternoon. As I'm sitting here watching the press conference on Michael Jackson, I'm thinking to myself.....whoa! We'll be playing upstairs at Valentines this friday, cause they can't hold us downstairs. Or something like that. We'll be going onstage at 9:00pm sharp. So be there and watch the fun.

As quickly as we build, we break. My training has ceased and I will miss the race. After 3 days of training, i caught cold, probably from running during that wind storm (ironically) with not enough on. I was however making great improvements in time over that period. I will keep running and catch the next race. Good news is that I'll be over the cold by Friday's show. However, this breaks my 2 year run of not having a cold. I was starting to feel like Brett Favre.

11/12/03
Well, Ziggy's came and went. Another very successful show under our belts. I'd like to thank all the people that showed up unexpectedly and everyone else that was there. Fox news was there to tape three of our songs for the big break segment. We'll let you know when it airs. So speaking of airplay, Jason Keller played 'Breathe' last Thursday on the radio and promoted the show a bit. Another shout out to Jason for his continued support. There's a nice article about him in the Metroland this week about what he does. I recommend reading it and then you'll see what an honor it is to actually be on his shows.

There's pictures up on the gallery page from the show. Also, I did end up going out back to take a leak when the line got too big. Someone else must've fell off as well cause there's a fence there now.

On a personal note, I've begun training for St Clares 5k run in Central Park on Thanksgiving. I wish I had more time but I just found out yesterday and I'm in far worse shape than I thought. My legs and lungs are weak. I've got til the 21st to figure out if I can compete, so I'll let you all know next week for sure where I'm at. Peace out.

11/05/03
Howdy ho! I spent the last week exiling t-nizzel (aka Schenectady). Never to return. I got digital cable so I could watch basketball games everynight of the week and that's going well. I've also been watching movies on demand. It's fun. Yesterday was the first day of rest and I didn't move, but now I'm back and ready to update the site and to rock Ziggy's.

A little over 4 years ago I went to Ziggy's when I lived in Latham, tired of waiting for the long line I went out back into what i thought was the woods to go wee wee. But it wasn't the woods. It was a drop off to an underground garage. I walked off 10 feet onto the concrete and it didnt hurt cause I was wasted. I looked back up from the ground and thought, 'wow that was high!' This Friday will be my triumphant return to Ziggy's. This time I think I'll just wait in line like everyone else.

An ode to Dan Harvey.....

I met Dan Harvey in Florida while working security for City Place. 2 memories that always stick out when I think of Dan. One, the first time I met him he was new to city place and one of the other guards told me about his jeep before I met him. It was yellow and had Pittsburgh Steelers paraphenilia all over it. So I walk over to where he's standing and tell the other guard standing with him, that I just took a sharpie and wrote sucks under P.S. on some idiots's jeep. He laughed and we instantly became friends. 2nd memory: we went out drinking for the first time and he saw this girl he thought was hot, so I said, "lets go talk to her." We did and after a few minutes she says, "you two are pretty good with your little routine, you mustve been doing this for years." But it was our first time. Cut down in our prime and never reaching our full potential as a duo, I moved back home and only knew him for a 3 weeks.

We managed to stay in contact on the telephone and email for the past year. 3 weeks ago he calls me up and says, "listen I got a great idea for a song. you can call it Sancastles in the rain and use it as a metaphor for love that doesnt last but you keep trying anyway." I usually never take anyone's ideas cause im a thick headed prick, but this intrigued me and obviously was put to use.

So on behalf of myself and the entire band.......THANK YOU DAN HARVEY!!

Which leads me to the fact that we went to the recording studio to record 3 new songs for the next album and also to be used as a demo featuring the full band. Obviously it went well, the songs rock and you can check em out on the mp3 page. Its kinda hard to make out what Im saying because the guitars are so crunchy (i.e. Nirvana's teen spirit) next week I'll post the lyrics on the lyric page. So for this week see what you can make out, check back next week and see if youre right. You can also see pictures of the ACME show and the time in the studio on the gallery page.

10/22/03
Good Afternoon Fans. We rocked out the ACME Underground in NYC on Monday. It was a splendid time indeed. I'm sure they'll be some pictures back soon and they contacted us the next morning for re-booking due to the overwhelming success of the show. So in case you missed us, we'll be back.

Tonight we head into Cattrax Studio to record 3 brand new songs with the whole band. The song titles are 'Lovelight', 'Sandcastles (in the rain)', and 'Slow down.' They'll serve as the new demo for the band and will be the first 3 songs from our next album, which should be out by the spring.

Last and not least we just got confirmation on another local show for November 7th. We'll be rocking Ziggy's that Friday for 3 hours. We hope to see ya all there and be well. Until next week....

10/15/03
Ha ha! Im a day early so I dont forget. I didn't get to talk much last time cause I was so hungover I couldn't think. I forgot to mention Bill Clinton. We had Bill Clinton, who was in town, come up and do a kazoo solo during Patience. He's been a huge fan of Head since back in the day. So we got him to be on the first Head album cover. Quite a prank we pulled. I couldn't get any info on whether Hillary was gonna run or not. We really didn't get the chance to sit down and talk.

On Monday we go to NYC to play the ACME underground. If anyone wants to go, please contact me or Rob on the contact page and we'll be try to make arrangements for you to come.

10/08/03
Im a day late because yesterday was my birthday and I was quite busy, and I'll still just date this for yesterday. So many things happened last week with the CD release. We had articles and pictures in all 3 of the local papers and the show was a great success. Thanks to all those who came and hung out with us. Everyone had a good time as far as i knew. Theres alot of pictures up from the show on the gallery and you could check that out if you'd like. Now our attention will be focused on the NYC show at the acme underground. I know were all looking forward to that! Peace out!

10/01/03
A year ago today I was sitting in a swimming pool in Florida with my good time buddy Scott. I was fixin to leave the next day and we were trying to figure out what was what. Scott was born here. It was 90 degrees and humid. It seemed like it would never end. This is the most beautiful time of the year and even though it's getting cold, it's worth watching and being here. That was our conclusion as I left. It's been a good year and coming back was a very smart and wise decision. Initially it sucked. It took an entire year to build our Rome and we did it.

This Friday! This show will change everything. Not just for us but everyone involved in local music. Were gonna raise the bar musically and visually so high, people will expect more from a local show. We have alot of extremely cool things planned that have never been done before. And if they have been done, it'll be nothing like this, I assure you. Some things are so secret not everyone involved even knows. Some things we're wondering how were gonna do it, but we will. Were gonna play for 2 straight hours and when it's over it'll seem like we played for 15 minutes. Were taking a rapper's mentality on this one. They'll be special guests, stunts, gimmicks, surprises, twist endings and the tightest music you've ever heard from a local band in the Capital District. These are bold claims that will be backed up. Last night, Paul and I were talking and I said this will be so big and exciting I was wondering how we'll top it. He said we've been topping ourselves since day 1 and we'll continue to top ourselves. I hope you enjoy it. See ya Friday.

09/24/03
We made it back from NYC alive. We met alot of cool people, signed many autographs and had a blast. Hopefully we made some fans along the way as well. We just got the pictures in time for the weekly update. Gracias Rob. Check out the gallery, NOW! Joe G's missing from the pics for he didn't make the wild after party throughout Times Square. However, Rob, Heather, her sister Stacy, and 2 girls from Switzerland (Alexandra and Evelyn) did. Props to anyone who can party with me, Paul and Jeff to the wee hours, more props to the Swiss girls cause of their 6 hour time difference. It was alot of fun hanging out with people from their neck of the woods. We learned 2 things about Switzerland we suspected already. One, they're more in touch with our kind of music. Two, swiss girls are hot! Paul got a crash course in Swiss-German curse words. We got cultured.

We spent most of the night at a bar called Joe Allen's. There we met up with other superstars such as Frank Langella and Brian Dennehy. There were happy to see us cause actors love and worship rockstars. Brian Dennehy informed Heather that he actually parties in Schenectady cause his son goes to Union College. I was doing everything I could not to yell out 'QUIT PLAYIN WITH YOUR DINGY'. Mr. Langella held my hand for a creepy amount of time while explaining to me that he was that creepy secret service guy in the movie 'Dave'. Someone told me he was Dracula, but I didn't see any fangs. Overall it was a fun night and in hindsight I wish we would've gotten some pictures of the actors, but you'll just have to take our word.

Happy Birthday joenacco.com!!! The site is officially a year old. If you scroll all the way to the bottom of this page you'll see the first entry exactly a year ago. Stat wise, we're crushing the HEAD site. Not so much in visitors, but in page views and actual hits we've done in 1 year, what HEAD did in 2. Congrats to us! BOO YAH!!

The taping of BIG BREAK is tommorow and it airs sunday. Thats all for now, all you locals be sure to tune in sunday night at 8pm for our interview.

09/17/03
A day early cause we're going out of town tommorow. Should be an exciting time. I've changed some more things on the website this week, but first and foremost we've added another exciting show date. On October 20th we'll be headed back to NYC to play a club called The Acme Underground. The show starts at 9pm sharp and it's on a Monday night. This way we'll all have a hangover Tuesday morning (not just me & Paul). So speaking of which, NBA superstar Vin Baker has declared 'I'm an alcoholic' (where have I heard that before?). It made national headlines, mostly in the Boston Globe cause he is a Celtic.

Meghan Reilly has given me a formal review of 'The Bored Syndrome' and today I've posted it. You can check out her thoughts by clicking the link 'review'. She's a freelance writer and has done work for several newspapers and magazines including Impose Magazine based in NYC and Artvoice based in Buffalo, NY (similar to our Metroland). I would consider the review rather favorable and hopefully just one of many more to come! Footnote: I didn't even have to grease her pockets;)

I've also changed the MP3s on the website. Rumor has it they weren't the best 3 songs from the album. I can't tell cause I wrote em. But there's a strong debate as to whether 'The Haunting' or 'The blue law' is our best song. So I put em both up. Then there's me and Charlie Morris' duet on 'I am me'. This song is another song I've heard is 'the best'. Not as much as the others but a close second. So I figured to throw all three up and let you all decide. There's two more songs that are sleepers on the album (my opinion) that could pop out of nowhere. 'Into your arms' and 'Change'. They're not on MP3, you'll have to get the album to hear those 2. We'll be performing 'Change' live for the first time Wednesday in NYC. We'll see how that goes. Either way there's alot of good songs and you should buy this album when it comes out. Be well. Wish us luck at the seaport and if you're in NYC come show us some love.

09/10/03
Wow! What a week! Great news, Jason Keller's is gonna have us on BIG BREAK Sept 28th @ 8pm, with the perfect timing to promote the new album and the Valentine's show on Oct. 3rd. Doesn't get much better than that. Props to JK for the support! If anyone can think of some other ways to promote the album go to the contact page and let us know!

We sent the recon team (Paul, Rob and I) to NYC yesterday to scope out the South St Seaport. Looks good. We got some pics on the gallery. After that we hung around times square and the surrounding areas. We stopped by to see David Letterman and his guests for the evening. I got graet pics of Salma Hayek (the hottest woman on the planet) and Chris Elliot (aka Woogie). They're also on the gallery page.

Last, and certainly not least, we got to catch a Four Side Letter show at The Acme Underground. They're a band from Hollywood, CA out on an east coast tour. There's a link to the left (4SL). Lead singer, Ken Straniere and I, went to high school together at Niskayuna. We played in bands together and spent alot of time trading musical knowledge throughout high school and beyond until he moved to CA. Great band, great friend, check him out and there's also a picture of us on the gallery page.

More news, all the lyrics are up for The Bored Syndrome on the lyrics page and you may have noticed the album cover on the index page. You can post your thoughts (PLEASE) on the guestbook. Next week I'll be posting a review of the album from Meghan Reilly. Look for that! Enjoy yourselves kids!

09/03/03
Alot has happened this past week. I went to Great Escape last Friday with my father. I put the picture of proof in the odd section of the gallery page. A small, but national, magazine contacted our manager cause they want to do an interview. Which is fun, if it works out. We'll keep ya posted. And finally, I was in a crappy accident with my car yesterday, which i just paid off 3 weeks ago. I was sideswiped. Obviously I'm still alive, but I hit my head on the drivers window just hard enough to knock some sense into me. But like Bruce Willis, I'm unbreakable and I even lifted weights a few hours later. The cars got a alot of damage. It was hit at the unperfect angle where alot of things need to be replaced. Hopefully the check will be big enough to go buy a new car!

In music news, a bunch of press releases went out yesterday and today to all the major new york newspapers. Apparently this duck race is bigger than I expected and I won't realize it's magnitude until were down there. 20,000 ducks have been sold in advance, which means there could be more than 20,000 people there. Exciting! Well good stuff keeps happening, but it's a karma trade off for losing my car. See ya all next week.

08/27/03
I've added a contact page if you feel the need to get a hold of me or our manager to voice an opinion or book a show. You can email me to be put on our mailing list. You can get secret info that way. I'd also like to point out that last wednesday we broke the site record for traffic in a day. Which i thought was quite impressive. The NYC show is giving us alot of attention and its just the beginning. Were also in the works to start playing alot of out of town shows after Valentines to promote the album. So be on the lookout for that.

The pool I use is officially closed. Now my sweet tan will fade and I will become pale and gray just as the snow begins to fall.

Music recommendation for the week: The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi battles the pink robot. You might wanna check that out. I pulled out Pablo Honey and that not as bad as I remember either. I watched Punch Drunk Love and kept thinking Emily Watson was blind because the only time ive ever seen her was in Red Dragon. The guy who got set on fire in Red Dragon was also in the movie as well. Coincidence.........I think not.

08/20/03
This week we add another monsterous show to our list. We'll be making the journey to NYC and not just to play a hole in the wall on a monday night. We'll be playing a charity event for the special olympics in front of thousands of screaming fans. It's called the Duck Race. You buy a duck for $5 and throw out into the Hudson River and race it against your neighbor and I'm not talkin bout Mr. Rogers. There's prizes and whatnot but all the $5 donations go to the Special Olympics. Theres a link on the show page that will tell you all you need to know to go. September 17th 5pm.......come to NY. We'll also be playing alongside Janine Stange. You can check her out at janinestange.com. Should be a fun time.

As always, there's more exciting shows like this in the works and we'll let you know ASAP. The release of the album is just around the corner, as is winter. Dust off your jackets.

I've almost had this site for a year now and I guess if you wanted, you could go back to the beginning and read my ramblings for the year. Hopefully you've been reading all along.

08/13/03
Here we go, here we go, but I'm not Domino. I was just listening to Biggie Smalls and it stuck. We did indeed rock the G-Spot and everyone lived happily ever after. More important news is that I'm finallly releasing my solo album, The Bored Syndrome. And the Joe Nacco band will have a CD release party at Valentines October 3rd, just 5 days b4 my birthday. Which is good cause I wanted it out b4 I turned 54. The cover is done and the prototype CD turned up missing. Someone must've wanted it bad. I can't say that I blame them. It's might be the best CD ever made.

I haven't got any pictures back from the show so we'll have to wait and see if any turn up. Until then, be good.

08/06/03
Well the emails have been sent and everyone should be aware.........we will rock the G-Spot. We're hoping everyone under the sun will bring their friends. We'll start selling the t-shirt with the new logo on it. We'll also be giving away stickers and starting an emailing list as well. Look out for that. We have some incredible shows on deck and as soon as they're all finalized we'll be posting the dates.

Later this month I'll finally be releasing The Bored Syndrome and we'll probably be having a CD release party soon. I'm just putting the final touces on the artwork........SO LOOK OUT!!!

07/30/03
Some great news this week. We'll be opening for Inky Salad next week at The G-Spot (Friday August 8th). I've seen these guys several times at the World and they're pretty darn good so if you're reading this you should come see what will be an incredible show. The G-Spot has a great sound system, a great stage and it's run by the same folks who run The Northern Lights venue. Needless to say to say this will rock.

In other news, I've reformatted the gallery page. My younger and outspoken sister said she liked it better this way and she always gets what she wants. You can now click the pictures and they will enlarge gigundo size. There's also new and different pictures in there now. Some nostalgic moments in the odds and ends section, including stunning pictures of our manager Rob, the infamous Scott Lombardi and the ex-head drummer, Nate Duell. So enjoy those. The photos will take much longer to load up now and you can thank Amanda 'my sister' Collins for that. She's the one in the picture with all the kids on the couch. You can email her at amandacollins@yourwebsitesux.com

07/23/03
The logo is going over well. We rocked out at Jed's Place in Cohoes on Friday. The kids seem to like us. We continue on as Head this Friday at "The World." Watch out. We'll be using the show to promote the JNB a little by passing out the stickers of the new logo. Maybe we'll get sued.........

FREE KOBE

07/16/03
More pictures, new logo, more fun. What up kids? Another week has passed and today is the day that the NBA can start signing their free agents. Lakers and the Nets. The Lakers sweep the series. I won't change that and you can check back next year and see that I was right.

We played a Head show and Mike's party. It was a long a taxing weekend for me and everyone had fun. More work on the Joe Nacco Band in preparation for a heavy fall lineup. Rob and myself are coming up with a crafty lineup of shows for the fall and we'll release the Schedule ASAP. In the meantime, keep checking back and we'll see ya later.

07/09/03
Whoa! Im on time this week with some new pics, courtesy of our manager Rob. This week Rob went to Big day out and solicited the Joe Nacco Band CD. He managed to put the CD in the hands of all the lead singers of Staind, Evanescence, Eve6 and the Exies as well as some SPAC associates. Good job Rob. That rhymes. Let us all say a prayer and hope someone contacts us.

In other news, the weather is getting crappy again, but we need the rain and Head will be performing at The Riverhouse this Friday night. Hope to see ya there. Peace out!!

07/02/03
Another week has come and gone. Happy independence day. We played an open mic at the Crazy Crab this week and took some promo shots for all sorts of reasons which is why it took me a couple days to upload the new info.

In the next couple weeks we'll be doing more open mic performances and then expect around August to see us involved in some serious shows. We'll all be looking forward to it. Peace out, enjoy your fireworks.

06/25/03
This Friday, at Sportsworld, in Schenectady, there will be a performance by the greatest cover band this side of Jumpin' Jacks. My father will be leaving town for an undecided amount of time the following day. Make sure you say goodbye as we all know he's been a fixture at most or all of our shows. Also, due to my new found love of the X-files and lack of funds, I haven't been out destroying my liver. Thus leaving me with not a funny story for this week. we did go into the studio with Head this week to record a 'professional' demo and the songs are up on the 'mp3s' page. Nothing new, just pure Head classics.

The joe nacco band will be performing at 2 open mics this week on Weds at the Crazy Crab and at the Larkin on Thursday. We'll only be doing a couple songs and we'll be without paul, but if youre reading this and wanna hang out and meet us, go to either and just introduce yourself and bring a me Coors Light. Draft or bottle, I have no preference. Like I said, I'm broke and can use the charity. Peace out brothers and sisters.

06/18/03
I've already put some pictures up from the show. I think that happened on Monday. The show went extremely well. Everyone went home pleased and we all had alot of fun. I know we all look forward to playing more shows in the future and we will. As that happens I'll let you know. In the meantime we'll be hitting the open mic scene for a bit to promote the band and to get the music out there.

For those of you who took pictures, please email them to me so I can put them up on the site. I only got 5 pictures taken on my camera. Peace out.

06/11/03
This week brings the debut of the joe nacco band. Lots of things will be here to capture this performance. Photographers, video cameras and news reporters. If what we think will happen, happens, we will need these things. This could be the debut of something very special and were ready. If youre reading this and planning on going, get there early. I believe the doors open at 8pm and we play second. That's all I've got to say for now.

06/04/03
I notice the website traffic is triple on Wednesdays, which could mean people are actually reading this and coming back for more. If you're one of those people, I'd like to thank you and apologize for not always getting this up on wednesdays. Usually if I've got something real good to say I'm more likely to get it up on time. This week I flat out forgot what day it was. But an important bit of news, this week The Joe Nacco Band and The Head has hired a booking agent/manager. So I'd like to officially welcome Rob Vanosky to the team. So be sure to look for some new and cool exciting shows in the future.

The JNB has become a very tight unit and just in time since the show is next week. Bringing back the Head should help the interest in the JNB. The rocking of Sportsworld should carry the crowd to Albany. So if you plan on attending, bring a lawn chair, this will be an exciting show and the place should be packed up good, so it's sure to be a good time. You'll also get to hear the rest of these songs from this highly anticipated album I keep babbling about. Peace out!!

05/28/03
Ladies and gentilemen, I made my first bass playing live performance with MTB last friday at the the Larkin (where the JNB will be playing June 14th). What a swell time. The only other time I've played bass was during open mics and Head stunts. The show went well and it really pumped us up for the joe nacco show. Paul and Jeff came along to scope the area, like a recon team. Paul took some snapshots and they're in the gallery. The first thing you'll notice is my suit and tie, GQ style. Mike told me to dress well (no t-shirts). If you know me, you'll know all I own is t-shirts and one suit (just in case someone marries or passes). So that's what you get.

Joe G. is back from vay kay so we'll be rehearsing for the final push. I've been playing alot of golf with my Dad (a former senior pro who played on the PGA tour) and his protege, Glenn Brown (also plans on playing on the PGA senior tour in 2 years). Obviously, if you add both of their scores up, you'll get mine. My dad tried to get me into it my whole life and I've always found it rather boring. Anyways, it's taking me and my father a while to get back to form after the winter. So my Dad's drives were a bit short, but straight, so I say ,'Hey dad, your drive is like a limp dick, straight but you can't do too much with it.' A couple days later he comes out whailing the ball and Glenn says, 'Looks like your father got some Viagra.'

05/21/03
Well I was right and you sort of sense these things. The Head show was just unbelievable and showed severe signs of future success. That was the busiest I've seen Sportsworld since the first Beach Party. The crowd was the most responsive I've flat out ever seen period. It was the first time they clapped after every song. People were dancing...on the bar. The chemistry between the three of us was magical and were the talk of the town. If you missed the show put the next one on the calender, it may be the most fun you ever have.

Enough about me, let's talk about my band. The joe nacco band will definately be making it's debut performance at the Larkin Lounge. Should be an exciting all original performance. Also check out the show dates page. Many more shows have been added.

05/14/03
Were just days away from the rebirth of Head. Friday night. Sportsworld. We are definately anticipating the biggest crowd weve ever had. This could be some historic moment in local rock history, and maybe even world wide. Or at least thats what weve been telling everyone so they'd come. My dad always told me to talk the shows up like we were the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I like to be humble. Not Paul, he's telling everyone were the best band in the capital district and you know what....it seems to work and people actually believe him and wanna check it out. Heavy promotion......word of mouth.

Some new shows will be added to the show page, including the debut show of the joe nacco band. Which will be June 14th at the Larkin Lounge. I'll talk about that more in the weeks to come. Hop down to Sportsworld on Friday and see what happens.

05/07/03
Going into the weekend of practices. Thursday....mike thomas band. Friday....joe nacco band. Saturday.....Head. Each of those nights I have to follow up by going to work overnight. Which is fun if you can catch some zzz's, but if you cant it rather sucks. Each time depends on the situation. Usually I'll have a glass of warm milk and listen to a bed time story. I guess other than this I've not much to say. i should have more show dates for all the bands by next week. Thanks for watching.....im joe nacco.

This took a while to get up, cause news kept breaking. First off I'll be playing bass in the mike thomas band. We have a show later in May at the Larkin. For the skinny on this and others click this. Mike wants to be a full time musician, so we came to a decision to start Head again doing covers shows for $$$. Paul will be taking Nate's place in the band. Nate's focusing on school and work. Once again Paul was an original member of Head so this will be a cross section of the beginning and latest of Head. We've already booked one show for May 16th at Sportsworld and more are sure to come. Unfortunately this decision comes days after headtheband.com was sold to a porn site. We'll most likely get a new website with a new name later down the road. Meantime you can come here and check under 'dates' to see where I'm playing and with what band.

Bringing us to the joe nacco band. The original material is shaping up nicely and we'll begin working on a few covers. We should be ready in a month or two and probably start off with a light show at valentines or someplace rather similar. There also may be times where we throw all 3 bands in one show.

Also keep a watchful eye for 'The Mike'n'Joe Show II'

A direct quote from Rick James out of this month's Maxim magazine:

"Women just love motherf*ckers in rock'n'roll. It's one of the things that made us want to be musicians. If a musician says anything to the contrary, he's full of sh*t."

Well there's a long running list of other stars Paul and I plan on partying with when this band takes off, Culture-Club-style. This list includes (but is not limited to) Robert Downing Jr., Rosie O' Donnell, Latrell Sprewell, Courtney Love, Snoop Dogg and David Gilmour. Your asking yourself, why David Gilmour? We'll get him drunk to get to the bottom of the Dark Side of the Moon/Wizard of Oz mystery. So last night we decided to add James Thomas to the list, but only after he makes it to the NBA. We spoke with his sister last night and decided that a good party incident with James, Paul and I would help put T-neck on the map. So kids of Schenectady, pray we all become famous and we'll get this town the respect it deserves.

Charlie Morris has completed his vocals on track 8, titled 'I am me'. For those of you who come here and actually read this hog wash, I'm gonna give you a little treat, a sneak preview of the song. It's not entirely complete but this it what it sounds like, short a piano. Copy and paste this link... http://www.joenacco.com/iamme.mp3 this will play the track as it is now. Enjoy, relax, don't do it.

The nerds win again! More practices. Practice makes perfect. We were gonna do a surprise show, but we decided not to go out half-cocked. In the next few weeks, all this with the album and the band are gonna come together and the joe nacco band will begin infesting your neighborhood.

Looks as if I hit the jackpot. On warm days the girls from the local colleges love to run. And it seems like endless girls just keep passing by my house. So on warm days I sit out front, on the porch, drink beers and watch girls go by. This wasn't mentioned in my lease, if it was I would've had to pay an extra $50, knowing my landlord, he's probably your landlord too. So this is like an extra perk to go along with my paper thin walls. I meet my new neighbor and I thought she was Russian until I heard her brand of music. Which isn't as important as the fact that I swore it came from the other room. Every room I walked into, sounded like it was coming from the room I just came out of. So it's a push/pull.

And last, but not least, Michael Jordan's last game. If I was him, I'd do what Kiss does, keep retiring. Over and over. Hey Mike, if your reading this (and I know you are) play until you cant walk, youre only gonna get to be Michael once, so you better live it up. Sign with the Lakers. Scottie Pippen's a free agent after this season. Scottie could sign with the Lakers. John Stackton's a free agent. John could sign with the Lakers. Scottie Pippen, Michael Jordan, Shaq, Kobe and John Stockton. The starting five with none other than Phil Jackson as your coach. It makes sense. Think about it. Were already watching the lakers destroy everyone who comes in their path, might as well go the whole way!

04/09/03
Revenge of the nerds? We'll have to wait and see. The band is hummin along quite nicely and there may even be a surprise show next week. We'll have to wait and see.

I guess there's not a tremendous amount of things to speak of this week. The weather wants to break again and hear it should reach the 60's by July. Which is good cause I like snow. And the last bit of info for the week....I'm tired. Be safe!

04/02/03
Where do we go now? This week we'll practice again. Last week went well, we added the second guitarist, and as we all know or dont know, I've never played with another guitarist in a band situation, not dating back to my teenage years when I did. This takes a big load of my shoulders and it sounds alot more full and generally better. Pretty soon I'll get a page up here and dedicate it to the band. Look for that next week.

I'm a big sucker when it comes to buying cds. I'll buy just about anything. And anytime Rolling stone gives a cd 4 stars, I'll usually buy it and it leads to big disappointments such as 'Madonna - Ray of light' or 'Sting - Brand new day' or 'Wilco - Yankee hotel foxtrot.' These cds are 2 star worthy at best. So, back to the point, they gave the new White Stripes album 'elephant' 5 stars and I cant recall them giving any new cd (non-reissue) 5 stars. I was gonna get this album anyway. I like this band alot cause they remind me of me. They just have two people and record on very limited equipment, they also bring in various types of music and blend it. These have all been my theories that people have always laughed at and thought non-conventional for pop music and rediculous. Well obviously we all know now it's not. This album rocks! Buy it and respect it!

03/26/03
Yeah, yeah, yeah. All these opportunities for my music require three songs from my new album, thus prompting me to add another gem from the new album. This one's called 'singin' a song'. Enjoy it, my friends.

Rehearsals continue for 'the joe nacco band'. Things are going well and you'll be seeing us soon....somewhere.

For a third piece of news it's been brought to my attention that I've lost a couple pounds over the past year and everyone wants in on the secret diet. Well here it is, 'The Nacco Diet'. I start off the day by eating a bagel with creme cheese for breakfast. For lunch, I'll have a slice of roasted turkey breast and an apple. At this point I'm starving. But I replace dinner with a healthy coors light or 12. It's got no fat at all! I drink as many as I can in the shortest amount of time. At this point I've forgotten I was hungry and usually where I live as well as my present location. Then I throw up all I've eaten for the day and I pass out. Do not try this at home. If you do, I'd like to mention that I will not be held legally responsible for trips to rehab or kidney failure. This is simply my diet.

Ok, I'm kidding that never happens. Running season has officially kicked off. If anyone reading this has never tried their hand at long periods of running, you should. After 3 or 4 miles you become dehydrated and need water. One time in Florida, I was doing this and it was 85 degrees at night. I started having delusions that I was an alligator on the prowl and I started snapping my teeth. You also have a tendency to think alot. This plays many funny games with your mind. Well I gotta go, check back next week and I'll reveal a little secret about streaking in Hamilton Hill.

03/19/03
Well I've got great and fun news this week. Starting tommorow 'the joe nacco band' will begin rehearsals. We've got a drummer and a bass player and we're now just waiting on a guitarist. When the proper time comes I'll give out all the details on who's who. But for now I would at least like to leak out the drummer. Paul Salamone (a.k.a. the dingo). Paul was the original Head drummer and left to play in a blues outfit called 'excursion' and then went on to be the original drummer for the popular Beatles tribute band, "The Brits". Paul had decided to hang it up last fall. Upon hearing the new tracks for the album, he has found desire to play again, saying, and I quote, "Joe, this album is your meal ticket, let's cash it in." For more info on Paul Salamone, you can check out the many references on my bio page.

Also look forward to next week as I'll be receiving a review of the album and I'll be putting it up here on the site. You may also notice some minor changes to the site, less photo flattery. Enjoy!!

03/12/03
The stats for the week: The Blue Law was downloaded 51 times and Breathe (the new version) 43 times, which prompted the old version to be downloaded 30 times. This isn't alot, but I'm progressing. All my little 'head' internet stunts only drew 'dirty little girl' to be downloaded 29 times in one week. Baby steps on the bus. This site is picking up alot more traffic than headtheband.com ever did and I haven't even played out yet. I think, hope and pray this is good sign. I shut the head site off for good. But that may take a couple days to take effect.

In personal news (although its musically involved - but just barely) I spent some time at a bar this weekend with an old buddy, who insisted I sing carry okie (i know thats wrong). So i got up and rocked out on Billie Jean, a little song by my musical hero, Michael Jackson. I idolized him as a kid and my first performance was at age 7 doing that exact song, but lip syncing it while doin a little dance. I wont sit here and brag about how well I pulled it off at the bar, but I did. Even Michael would be proud, and if I was 17 years younger he'd probably invite me back to Neverland so I could rehearse with him.

03/05/03
Well, unless you have extreme tunnel vision, you probably realize that I've released the first single from the new album. I guess it's more of a double single, per say. Mixin a little flavor within itself and not revealing too much, too soon. The main song is called 'The blue law'. I wrote the music while hanging out in Southern Florida and wrote the lyrics up here when I got back. So it should have some southern flavor to it, with some northern thought. Later in the month it will be pressed to CD and released to radio stations wherever they check their mail.

If you come here on any kind of regular basis and didn't receive this week's email/newsletter, you should email headtheband@yahoo.com and leave your email address and name. That way you'll become an official 'Head Aftermath Fan Club' member. We'll send you a members only jacket for signing up.

02/26/03
Wow, I'm actually writing this and putting it up on the correct date. This site may go down for a day or two because I'm switching some things, so don't be alarmed. It's been brought to my attention that alot of this journal here isn't grammatically correct. Well i don't really think ahead, I just write.

This week, I resang some songs and hacked out some others. Final decisions are being made for the tracklisting. Within the next couple of days we'll have an internet single that will be later distributed to radio stations in the northeast and beyond. Probably in England as well. They'll like my music.

I'm starting to piece together a band and we'll be ready to go in next couple months to play out for the album.

'An ode to Meghan Reilly'
by joe nacco

A few weeks ago, I mailed a copy of my new album to Meghan Reilly. Meghan and I went to high school together and we've become good time buddies over the years. So Meghan plays the CD to all her friends there who have no idea who I am. And, except for a Bee Gees comment, everything was very favorable. Meghan, for this I owe you my life. You truly are the best friend a man could ever have. To take time out of your day to play my Cd for others who don't know me shows that you are the kindest and most generous person I know.

Meghan said last week's shout out was a little weak. I hope this shows my appreciation more proper-like.

Moday I worked 18 1/2 hours. My cell phone broke and I lost every number in it. When I got up on tuesday I went to Radio Shack and got a new one and went straight to work. I told the guys at Radio Shack that I thought al-qaeda sent out a signal to scramble my phone and that I had immediately wrapped in duct tape to stop the radiation. When I got out of work on Tuesday at 8pm, I run to my car, which is parked on the wrong side of the road starting at 8pm, and the car is being towed and the cop hands me a ticket for 8:02pm. So I said officer, it just turned 8. She just sort of laughed at me and handed me the ticket and fortunately I stop the tow guy. Then I go home to find a pipe had burst and I had no running water. It was the best 2 days of my life.

sidenote: NYS taxpayers are having their money wasted on countless ineffective things. I've had the pleasure of working with a solid team of NYS security. They spend most of their day writing down the things they do, which are primarily asking the people below them to see what they've written down in their log book of daily activites, to make sure it's up to snuff. Well, when there is no one left below them, they hire out contract security (thats me) and ask them what they've done all day and ask to review their logbook. My guess is that in each state building that is being secured due to 9/11, we are wasting $300,000 an year in security and all we're getting in return is some proper logbooks and every once in a while, my smiling face. Which on ebay is worth $4.

02/12/03
Well some of the album is getting bootlegged out in the world, as far as Rochester (thanks meg!). The feedback has been pretty positive and we have a unanimous first single. I'll let that one slip when I put it out there and release it on the site. Maybe next week, so check back. The head site is going down pretty soon. I can't be 100% when, but prolly in the next 2 weeks. It's getting no traffic anymore, we'll never play again, it's a waste of $10 a month and the renewal on the name is up.

So I'm talking to this girl today. We go outside to smoke a cigarette. And we all know it's balls out cold. She's got no jacket and I see she's cold so I offer her my coat. She laughs like it's a joke and says 'no thank you'. She waits a minute gives a chuckle and says 'what would you have done if I had said yes?' So I'm like, 'I'd take my coat off and give it to you.' She looks at me funny and says 'oh'. Im like, 'you want it?' She still said 'no'. I knew she was thinking I only offered it cause I knew shed say no. And if I was her I would've been like, 'hell yeah give me your goddamn coat'. Cause I would make myself freeze. And laugh at me on the inside. Thats just how I am. Nice enough to offer my coat and mean enough to take it.

02/05/03
Phil Spector......wall of sound. Why are great producers of sound usually whack jobs. I'm still organizing schedules to finish the album. Looks like I said, end of February.

My dad's always bustin my balls with sayings from the 50's and 60's and even the 40's cause he's old. He had me when he was 42 and I'm 27 now. He'll say things like 'joe youre really steppin in high cotton now' or 'your cuttin a fat hog in the ass'. Those mean your doing financially well, usually in reference to mass overtime I serve. Yesterday out of nowhere I start whistling Peter Cottontail. He stops and says 'what in the hell was that?' I had no idea cause I just did it subconsciously. He says 'it sounded like Peter Cottontail but so out of tune that it was hardly recognizable.' I said 'I really didnt mean for it to be.' He says,'for a guy who composes alot of music you can't carry a tune in a wheelbarrel.' I wonder if Phil Spector couldn't whistle?

01/29/03
Yippee!! I'm done recording my parts for the album. Two fellas will be laying down their parts in the next month or less, while I go over it with a fine toothed comb. More to come....

Nothing of good personal interest has really happened this week cause I've been working alot. It was almost warm there for a minute and then the rug disappeared. Hopefully I'll have some better stuff for next week.

01/22/03
Looks like from this journal here that this album will end up taking just about a month to record. At this exact moment I've got 11 out of the 12 songs done. I'll be done on my end by the end of the week and then I'll be getting my buddies to come over and do their thing. One of my secret listeners said they're getting a Peter Gabriel vibe off the album. I guess thats what I can say for right now. I'll get three complete reviews from my secret listeners and post them up on the site.

In other Joe Nacco news, I'm really cold. I haven't been out much so I've got nothing real funny to speak of. But an interesting side piece.....I haven't caught a cold so far this whole winter. That's rather shocking since I spent the summer in Florida where it was 105 everyday with the heat index and now I'm in negative weather. Last winter I caught a cold every Friday. So I'm buying some new strings and this girl is cashing me out and she's shivering. So I say, 'hey you cold?' She says, 'no I'm sick.' I say, 'Breathe on me. I haven't had a cold yet and I'm starting to worry.' She says, 'I'll stick my tongue down your throat, if you want?' I said, 'you wanna catch a movie first?'

(sidenote: a lady got out of her car today to tell me what a shitty driver I am. I just laughed which pissed her off more. I thought she was gonna take a swing at me. So I said, 'hey if im such a shitty driver, then tell me, how many accidents have you been in your life?' She put her head down and walked away. I still kept laughing.)

01/15/03
I've taken a break from recording to rethink the 2nd half of the album before I start it. I had 9 songs left but after studying the remains and the concept behind the album, I scrapped 3 songs. Not cause they weren't good, they just don't fit the concept. So I'm down to 6 songs. 3 of which will contain unnamed guests for the time, but I assure you they are big celebrities. The fourth turned me down. Her rep never called me back. I understand Gwenyth Paltrow is busy making movies and dating my hero and might not have time to sing on my album, but at least tell me. Don't leave me in limbo.

In personnal news this week.... no more crazy bisexuals yet. I did get hit on a couple times but nothing worth posting. However, one of the girls brings up my rock star status and says she was sought out in a crowd by some no name rock star at Proctor's, like it was a big deal. So I had to drop the bomb on her. I say "Oh Yeah?" and then comes my favorite story of all times.

Im in a Starbucks in NYC one day and I get in line. This older blonde hottie is like gawking at me and giving me the eye the whole time were in line. I think she looked back four or five times. I'm always flattered of course. She takes longer cause she bought some sort of 'it takes a long time to make' coffee and i just got my coffee and sat down. Well when she finally gets her coffee she grabs the table right next to mine and looks at me and smiles. Well when she does that it dawns on me that she looks aweful familiar, but I was in NYC and I know like no one down there. Well time passes, maybe 5 minutes, and I was thinking of striking up a conversation with her. But in comes her boyfriend holding the new Rolling Stone with Madonna holding a guitar on the front. Then I look at his face and realize he's looks real familiar too. And then it hits me like a ton of bricks. She's Sheryl Crow and he's Owen Wilson (at that time he was only in The Haunting). She stops checking me out and opportunity passed me by. From that day foreward, after repeatedly kicking myself in the ass, I've made it a point to at least talk to any girl who checks me out....just in case she might be Gwenyth Paltrow.

(sidenote: I decided to snoop on their convo and Sheryl Crow was ripping on Madonna for being a poser with the guitar. Which I thought was great and I was at least glad to hear that)

01/08/03
The album is coming along nice and quick and with almost no setbacks. So far this week I've recorded and finished the first six songs. I got 2 people secretly listening to this stuff to make sure I don't get tunnel vision with it. Doing it alone you can sort of fall off I guess and they'll keep me in check. They've both been all thumbs up so far. So......soon!

I used to use this page on my old site to rant and rave about things that pissed me off (which was funny). Well I've calmed down a bit since last year so I decided I was gonna come here and write about weird sexual things that happen to me. Unfortunately, the girls I've been involved with lately come to this site and I thought it may not be a good idea to write about them. But finally I have a good story that won't hurt anyone and I swear on my life it's the truth. Last night after a late night of working I decided to go unwind at the local bar. In comes this pretty hot girl and she sits down next to me. So we're talking for ten minutes, mostly small talk and then out of nowhere (and i'll edit the vulgarity for the youngens but its kinda hard with this one) she says "joe, i think your gorgeous. i'd like to hang out with you. but i need to be up front with you. i like women too. and if your gonna be with me you'll have to watch me be with other women." these are not her exact words, except 'gorgeous', funny how how i remember that.... I assure you her words were much more phone sex operator type stuff. she also explicitly elaborated on the exact details of what sort of activities would be taking place. this went on for about two minutes and the whole time i'm thinking 'god, i wish i had a tape recorder in my pocket right now.' so she drops her number and splits.

01/01/03
So like, Happy New Year everyone. So I think this past year was the first year I accomplished every resolution. If you know me personally you know what I'm talkin about. Next year, I've got my goals, once again they are personal and once again why am I even writing this?

Recording starts this week, I'll keep a play by play on the main page. Keep well folks. I just put plastic on the windows. Niagara Mohawk is a blood sucking whore entity. They've managed to become a monopoly without becoming an illegal monopoly. They should give business tips to Bill Gates.
