Where is Joe Nacco?
I'm alive and well. I did cancel the last 2 shows and I've been on a monster hiatus. There will be a beautiful comeback and a full blown release of the new album. This has been a rebuilding year for me. When you put as much effort into the music as I have over the years, other things in your life tend to slip. Ive been addressing them one by one as well as doing a lot of things I've always wanted to do and was just too busy. People always wonder how I made so much music in such a short time and how we did the whole PR thing and the truth is it really came at a cost. The whole personal rebuilding process is culminated by the fact that I begin my last and final class for my bachelor's at Cal State starting Monday. All these things will put me in a very good position to turn my focus back to music next year. Thanks to those who have been patient and check back very regularly even though I haven't posted. Sometime soon operation:west coast will be up and running! Be good.

Well the Martini Blues was a success and I was rebooked for July 5th! My good buddy and manager Rob was there so we finally got the photographer back at work, so there's some new pics up in the gallery! There's also talk of an east coast tour centering on a show at The Great Escape!! Maybe Christies and Ambition cafe as well. It'd prolly be in July or August! I'll keep ya posted!

Hello everybody! Once again it's been a while since I've wrote on this and henceforth the traffic is dying down. Most people go to the Myspace these days anywho. But I don't blog there. I put some new pics up in the gallery. They're pretty ghetto since I took them on my phone. Most of them are of the things I've been doing. Which is going to concerts, seeing basketball games and site seeing. I actually have a show tonight in my hometown of Huntington Beach! It's at the Martini Blues, which I've played once before. This should be a real good time as I'm anticipating a decent crowd and my good buddy & manager Rob is out for a visit. I'm starting to record some more new songs for the new album, which will continue to be a work in progress until I get the right mix of tunes. I plan on hitting an LA studio to track the bass and drums for the material since I don't have my full array of tools here. So as this happens I will post it here!
Another interesting footnote: "Escape" and "On your side" have won honorable mentions and placed in the top 500 of the 2006 Billboard Songwriting Contest. We haven't scanned these documents yet, so you can just take me at my word, since I've never told a lie on this page!

Wow Ive neglected this site a bit. The show for the OCMAs went well and even though I didn't win, the club that they held it at wants me to come back and headline a show on a Thursday in May. Details are on the show page.
I also just got back from Phoenix to scout the music scene, see a Phoenix Suns game and make some contacts, so maybe they'll be a show there soon. I met a lot of good peeps including Dan Majerle. He was kind enough to snap a photo with me and its on my myspace page.
I also believe Rob has a pending date in mid-April somewhere and I'll inform you all later. Peace.
02/10/07
I'm a glutton for punishment so I went back to NY earlier in the week. I don't know how people live like that! Anywho I finally have my first show coming up out here!! It's at the Martini Blues and it's an acoustic showcase for the Orange County Music Awards! Anyone reading this who lives in and/or around Huntington Beach and Westminster should come down!! All the details are on the show page!
God bless you all!!

Jesus, it's been a while! Oh how I've sinned... I keep taking free samples! Anyways it's been a while since I jotted something down here. Problem is I don't have a lot to say right now. Moving is such a process and just into a groove takes so long that its hard to take care of the extracuricular activities. Rob is working on booking some shows, the album will be out shortly and that's about all. As always, I'll let you all know when the first batch of news breaks!
01/18/07
I no longer have a set day to do this and guess that's for the best since anything could happen and I should report it here. I have a few bookings pending out here and I'm not sure when they'll materialize. We also have some news pending on some songwriting contests, which also may or may not materialize. My good buddy Mike Campese is on his way out here from NY for the NAMM conference and hopefully we'll get a chance to meet up and hit the town. Other than that, the weather is still nice and that's about that.
01/14/07
Well I spent every night this week out in LA and Hollywood trying to get the wheels spinning and some things are kicking up. As soon as something materializes it'll obviously be announced here!! at joenacco.com, say it with me "joenacco.com" i cant hear you... "JOENACCO.COM!!"
Peace out!!
01/05/07
Happy new year! I spent New Year's Eve all over LA. First I saw the worst basketball game of my life when the Knicks played the Clippers. Those organizations are an embarassment to the league and once you pay money to sit in the stands it no longer becomes a funny joke, it flat out pisses you off. I can see why all the fans at MSG are infuriated, paying that kind of money to watch professional basketball players lay brick after brick. Whether they suck or its a lack of effort its absolutely unexcusable.
After that I went to rodeo drive and let me tell you awesome looking all those stores are. Like some futuristic shopping experience. Unbelievable. And then hit the Santa Monica Pier for some seafood pasta. Forgot the name of the place but it was unbelievable as well. I'm still on east coast time so I passed out long before it was midnight on the west coast. That's all for now!
12/28/06
Howdy kids!! How's everyone been lately? I'm warm, thanks for asking. I've actually been sick for once and I'm just about turned the corner on it. I slept most the day yesterday. Been making some contacts, looking for some musicians to work with etc.. etc..Not too much is up other than that. But I do need your help...
Please click this link and vote for Requiem For Civilization. It has been nominated by rkstar.com as the best album of 2006 along with the likes of James Blunt and Beck and Snow Patrol. That's pretty cool, but we need some votes to take it the rest of the way.....
Click here and do your thing, be good, happy new year!!

I had the wonderful pleasure of catching one of the 3 final shows of the GNR tour at the Gibson Amphitheatre. GNR are my sole inspiration for making music. With such high expectations you're bound to fail, especially with Slash missing from action. I saw Skid Row and GNR in the early 90's during the Illusion tour, ironically enough Axl brought Sebastian Bach to open for him. Clearly that magic from the early 90's is gone. I still have crazy respect for Axl and his obvious talent and he seems to be growing up and realizing what is and what should never be. I think that final step would be making amends with slash, duff and matt sorum, scrapping the album and starting over. Hell, we've waited this long! Whats a couple more years to get it right. I'm sure the reason he doesn't hear what he wants to out of that album is because he's missing the key ingredients. Anywho, he says March 6 is the new date for Chinese Democracy, so therefore that also becomes the new date for my new album titled, "NO LAB." As promised my album will be delayed and will be released as soon as his is released, end of story!
12/15/06
what's up everyone? I'm really starting to get comfortable with everything out here. It's a difficult trasition, but it's really starting to come together. I finally figure out how to shop today for groceries. If ou just pop up here, you're gonna get ripped off. I've seen a dozen large eggs for almost 4 bucks in a regular grocery store!! Finally I got a Ralph's card and learned just to buy what's on sale.
Were also getting closer to being able to take some small musical steps. Possible next week we can see some developments!! As always, I'll keep y'all posted. Tonight I'm off to see my 2nd Lakers game. Woo Hoo! T-mac and Kobe Bryant on one floor!!
12/07/06
Well I've landed a few opportunities here so far. Unfortunately none of them have anything to do with music. A couple day job offers, but also some acting and modeling interviews as well. Some are wicked big time, some are just some extra opportunities, but either way it's pretty exciting stuff and while I got some time off I'm exploring all avenues. I certainly will keep you posted. Tomorrow I have an interview in LA to be on "Show me the money" with William Shatner!! That'd be sweet I might have the ears to be on a show with him!
12/02/06
I'm really breaking my "wednesday only" rule! We all made it to Cali in one piece. It was tough at times, but once you start seeing palm trees and realize youre wearing shorts on dec 2nd and it's not some random fluke, you know it was all worth it. Now the fun job of looking for a place to live!!! I'll stay in touch. Starbucks blows. They want to charge $10 a day to use their wifi!! There's a nice place called "Diedrich Coffeehouse" right in old towne orange's square circle thingy. Quite frankly the coffee's better too... not quite as good as Stewart's though!
11/30/06
I'm breaking tradition by writing on a Thursday. We're snowed in just west of Amarillo, Texas. We got 1000 miles left. So far we've avoided the snow with the times of our travels but it'll be interesting to see what happens today. Hopefully we can make it to Flagstaff. Most these hotels have the wifi, so I'll try to keep y'all posted. Y'all is what everyone keeps saying to us. Be good!
11/29/06
Well I'm just west of St. Louis right now and it's a much more scenic route than the last way I went. I saw the big giant arch and that was sweet. I'd like to say more, but I'm tired and don't have a heck of a lot of time!! Peace out kids!!
11/22/06
H to tha izzo, V to tha izzay! Sheezy my neezy with my arms soooooo breezy. Jay Z's back! Does anyone care? Did he really ever leave the public eye? Seriously, come on!
The Beatles have a new album that came out yesterday. All 4 represetatives are behind it and why wouldn't they be, it's Black Friday in 2 days. Cha-ching cha-ching. In their defense it's actually really good and really cool. I used to really love the Beatles but I've grown tired and bored of the simplicity of the songs over the years and this is a new way to listen to their music I love so much without wanting to kill myself for having to hear I want to hold your hand for the 16 millionth time! It's like Roger Waters and David Gilmour had their hands at all the old tracking tapes. It's one giant piece of music like a Pink Floyd album with bits and parts all sewed together into one career spanning CD. So while I endorse it, I also just see another Beatles album in time for the holiday season...
Next time I write in, I'll be in Oklahoma City!! Peace out cub scouts. Enjoy your turkeys!!!
11/15/06
I'm sure everyone's waiting for the pics to come up. Please be patient, I'm in the middle of a very big move and they will be up sooner or later!
I'd like to thank everyone of you who came out and showed some love for the final show. It was a real blast. I know everyone had a great time. Just about everyone of my buddies were there and performed with me and I'm very grateful for that. Like I said, the pics will be here soon. We're coming down to the final days!!!
11/08/06
Either everyone in America realized they made a horrible mistake (twice) or there were just too many elections to fix!
First off I'd like to thank all of those who have wrote in showing support for the move!! I appreciate that.
Second, I still have a few more FAQs to answer. Paul is still the drummer and Rob is still the manager. Brian's been out of the band since just prior to the Lena show. Although I'll mostly do acoustic shows out there, Rob & Paul will take a trip or 2 out to Cali for a series of bands shows we'll be doing in the southwest. Most likely in the spring and fall of next year. They both will be working on maintaining a presence here in the Northeast while I'm working on maintaining a presence in the Southwest. This is very smart, as it's probably dawning on you as to what this means. I also will be flying back to visit my family and play a few shows in Albany, NYC and Boston, most likely in the summer, when its warm! Joey can't be getting all cold now, can he?!?!
The album will be coming out and these shows will be in support of the album. I don't think we'll release it this year, most likely early next year and promote the living sh!t out of it. Maybe there will be more and/or different songs on it, once again nothing's set in stone!
The album will be released bi-coastal on a new independent record label we'll be starting that will have offices on both the east AND west coast!!! As of today, we're calling it Jay Knack Records! It's a working title. We don't have much more info on that right now...
On to other stuff... I read an article this week about industry insiders being baffled as to why internet hype, with YouTube as well as other various internet outlets, isn't leading to TV viewers and movie ticket sales. Guess what folks, people that spend most their free time on the computer passing links to funny YouTube movies don't have a lot of time left over to go to the movies and/or watch TV. The internet can be a useful tool to market, but you have to go after certain types and figure out a way to get to the people who are only on the net briefly each day. No doubt, it's tough! You almost have to bring THEM to the net to view your stuff and not the other way around.
The NBA started this week and while I'd like to go off on a few different tangents and say who'll win the Finals, it's still too early, Dallas is winless and Phoenix is 1-3!! One thing's for sure, I'll be seeing a lot of Lakers and Clippers games. I'll really miss the MSG and YES network though and the frequent visits to Madison Square Gardens. Now I'll be forced to go to the Staples Center...
Anywho, be good and don't forget the Ambition Show!!!!
11/01/06
Novemba one Joey. Scott's dad always says that that's the exact day the weather finally shifts in Florida. Not the day before or the day after, but "Novemba one Joey." But he's a Schenectadian-Italian and like my father and Paul, everything that comes out of their mouth is silly, exaggerated and worth busting their balls for. Scott and I always have a good laugh, I guess it's cause were only half Italian or the Danish are real ballbusting comedians! Paul's young enough to realize he's doing it and just can't control himself, he's full blooded.
I'm not a fan of non-daylight savings, it should be daylight saving time all year long. I work later in the day and it's aweful depressing!
All the reaction to last week's post was positive all the way around. I didn't get any "haters" writing in telling me to F off. I guess they couldn't really, right?
This week I'd like to call out and address the surplus of half naked women in music. This goes on at all levels and I like to call it "The Britney effect." Ever since Britney we're getting a surplus of unattractive, untalented, females who keep showing more and more cleavage to get ahead in the biz. It's been going on forever, but it's just at ridiculous low now. Especially with MySpace. I don't want to call out names, not cause I'm afraid, but because I don't want to give these half prostitutes anymore totally unnecessary attention. Half to blame is the men who reward this behavior. I guess the long and short of it is that it's easier to take your shirt off than to hire a vocal coach and train your a$$ off.
I doubt this will EVER stop, but if this entry convinces one man to rethink and one woman to put some clothes back on and hire a vocal coach then maybe I've done some good.

Kev Brock started his blog back up and I was getting nervous there for a minute. Cause if Kev wasn't calling out people in the local music scene, who would? Seems as if a few confrontations put the spook into him and he stopped. I'm thinking he realized that for every person out there who hated him for it, there was someone out there who loved him for it. Although Kev and I aren't fighting the same people, were fighting the same war. What Kev (and yourself for that matter) doesn't realize is I've been doing that for years right here on this very journal page. Of course I do it in a way where only the person I'm calling out will realize I'm doing it and then I just play dumb. And boy that really fires people up.
The music scene (life in general) is made of little cliques. These cliques usually contain one person who has some sort of power or control. They have a little group of followers who suk a$$ and wait to be thrown a bone. The leader of the cliques won't let people in the cliques who are a threat. They could be threat because they're more physically appealing, more talented or simply someone who won't shut their mouth and play along. I thought this would've stopped after high school, but it doesn't. It never stops. Not in the music scene, not at your job, CERTAINLY NOT IN BASKETBALL LEAGUES and not even at the local elks club. I learned a long time ago to stay out of cliques, chances are I wouldn't be let in anyways because I'm all 3 of the things you can't be to be in a clique. So I sit on the outside of cliques and do my best to be a nuisance. I don't just do this in the music scene, I do it everywhere. Granted this makes me a bit immature, and maybe no better, but I can live with that, and admit it.
There's a good amount of people like me. There's also a good amount of good people who aren't in cliques, people who are just out there and lend hands to each other. You can spot these people because they help you out and/or are a true friend. I guess in a sense were a big giant clique with no leader that has power and no rules to be in. It's interesting to break this all down. It's a good time. I'm having a lot of fun here. I know there's a lot of people out there who feel exactly the way I do.
So I wrote an album about all this and I swear it will eventually come out. The big track at the center of this is called "Faker." Which I'm sure you all know. I've posted a beautiful acoustic version of it on Myspace this week. I've been recording a bunch of acoustic songs for reasons that will become obvious sometime down the road. Until then, go see my myspace page and have yourself a good laugh. Unless you're a pathetic leader of a clique with marginal talents and a not so pretty face, then I guess you're pretty upset right now. But in order to confront me, you'd have to admit you're that ugly person. Isn't that the beauty of it all!
10/18/06 CHINESE DEMOCRACY STARTS NOW!!!
Once again, for the umpteenth time, Axl is ready to release "Chinese Democracy." It seems more legit this time, but it'd have to sound more legit or no one would even believe it! There's a tour, Axl's behaving and making public appearances and making end of the year promises. Could it really be? We'll finally hear the most important album of all-time!?!? 6 tracks or so have been leaked over the past 3 years, most likely by Axl himself. Otherwise all the tracks would've leaked. Plus that guy's a total control freak and stages weird sh*t. I've managed to hear em all and some are good and some aren't. But they're demo quality and should severely improve with the sound enhancements and better mixes. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited.
I said it in a previous journal entry and I'll say it again.... The day "Chinese Democracy" comes out will be the day "No one likes a ballad" comes out!
10/11/06
Just as I said in the entry below... I actually turn on the radio this week and they're playing "Bones" by The Killers. I should seriously take over the A&R department for every record label in this country. Do you know how much better the music you listen to would be? I'm still waiting to find out if they have the number 1 album or not. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
Two months ago, my father calls me up and says, "hey, im reading in the paper that gas prices are going to be down to $2 by november." So I say, "well you know why that is, right? The republicans can lower the gas prices so they can keep the majority in congress come election time." I think I may have wrote this before... anyway, here's a statement from George Walker Bush from yesterday's news on Yahoo!
"I think the elections will be decided by security and the economy," he said. He pointed to signs of significant improvement in job creation, lower energy prices and tax cuts that he said are working. He opened his news conference by trumpeting new figures showing a big reduction in the U.S. budget deficit.
You take that as you'd like, please don't vote Republican this November, they are ruining our country from an individual standpoint and as a whole!
10/04/06
So I went out and got The Killers new cd yesterday. It's called "Sam's Town." I really like those guys because they remind of a lot of the bands I listened to when i was yoooo-ung. While the cd certainly has a few akward moments, there's about 5 or 6 very solid tracks. There seems to be some spiritual-small-desert-town-theme story going on, but I haven't really listened to it close enough yet to fgure it out. "Bones" will probably be the next single. But don't take my word for it, go out and buy the thing. It should take the top spot next week on the Billboard album charts unless that crappy effernerference girl out-sells them which would be an aweful shame. If so, call me when I'm sober and I'll cry. Effernescence sux!
Anyway, I'm taking my time with putting the final pieces of the album together. Which is fine 'cause I'm in no hurry, but I get a lot of people asking me when it's gonna be ready for release. To that I respond, "I'll release it the same day Chinese Democracy comes out!"
09/27/06
Now that were finally done with the album (except the artwork) I'm starting to get back to being on time and focusing on good things to say! Whenever I record an album it takes so much out of my brain because im thinking about all the different parts and whatnot, that I usually start letting go of a lot of things like shaving, showering, writing my journal... you get the point. We'll be snapping off some pics this friday. We've decided to do 2 different layouts for the clean and dirty version of the album. Should be a good time!!
Studio 60 on the sunset strip is helping cope with the huge loss of Arrested Development. I'm DVRing everything this fall. So far that's the best show, I'll let you all know how 30 rock turns out, cause you know I'm not gonna miss that!!
My new song O Baby! is posted on Myspace right now and its getting the best reaction of all the songs so far. Which is funny and ironic cause it was just something silly I threw out there because I don't like odd numbers of tracks on an album. The other song from the album that got the second best reaction was written under the same premise! Drive me crazy. Faker and Crazy Scientologist are still up there for their great reactions as well. There's 12 tracks and those 4 have been the best received. But I can't lose site of Ready to go and Everybody hates me as being my favs. Bottom line, we got another great album filled with MULTIPLE goods songs here. Of course it won't sell a million copies, because only albums that have just ONE good song sell a million copies! Nonetheless, I know the hardcores fans love this album, and that's who I care about, cause that's who I am!
Have a super week!
09/20/06
Hey folks. Still mixing and editing. I want to make it perfect. I'm a stickler on perfect mixes! I also posted a new song on Myspace. It's a little joke, based on some hiphop music. I'm not sure if people realize it's a joke, but it is.
So by the way, the mixes youre hearing on myspace all along have been scratch mixes! BUt those players sound like such crap, you could never tell anyway... Be Good!! 09/13/06
For being such good fans and visiting my journal page, I'm giving away FREE Joe Nacco ringtones for your ringing pleasure! Just follow the directions above!
Anywho, I'm still working on the mixing and editing of all the curse words for the album. Its coming along fine. I'll be letting you all know when everything's done of course.
Be good and have a fun week!
09/06/06
Well for what it's worth, were done tracking the album! What a ton of fun. We added about 30 tracks to the Christmas song and it's posted on Myspace right now. Now with all that swearing, I have some editing to do and it should be out shortly!! Peace out brothers and sisters!!
08/30/06
So my dad calls and says the gas prices are supposed to drop to $2 a gallon by November and I said "you know why?" He says no. Well its cause it's election year for congress and the Republicans don't want to lose control. So of course since my good buddy has control of oil prices... you can figure out the rest. If you can't, they should revoke your voting rights!
And so I started running again. You can feel the nip in the air!! Winter's coming!! The funny thing is, I start running annd the only difference I notice in my body is that I'm very hungry!! I like eating, so that's cool. HEY!! The album's done. I got some tweaking left, but by the time fall comes we should have the pressing. We have alot of folks excited for this one. I've been allowing everyone to hear it on Myspace as we go. I think whats on Myspace right now is pretty much the hits off the album, but there are a few more.
Well I gotta go. I love you all. Sorry I'm not as quick with tthis journal as I used to be!! The traffic is suffering a little bit as a result so I should start getting militant with it again so I don't lose you guys..........
08/23/06
The republicans are destroying our country!
08/16/06
Well, the Lena show was a success in spite of being down one member. Brian had to back out at the last minute for personal reasons, so Paul and I did a very unusual and very successful set alone, taking turns singing the classics. Tobias was off the hook. Probably the most, if not one of the most, entertaining performers I've ever shared a stage with. SRE is a band you'll hear alot from over the coming years. Very young band with alot of raw talent. They too had a bassist back out, but they found a temp.
The Gazette printed the article on me and my viewpoints and work habits. Shout out to Philip Schwartz! Alot of local folks read it and commented to me about it and viewed it as a very positive thing. I'd like to tie up one loose end about the article and that's about the speed at which I work. The more you do something, the better and more efficient you become at it. If you don't, you need to quit what you're doing on a professional level and make it a hobby. Obviously were working at a high level right now. I have a list of ideas for songs backed up in my head. My skills, work ethic and determination as a producer and arranger allow me to get these ideas transformed into finished songs within the course of a week, without floundering, but flourishing. Faker is already on the radio and at the top of the Broadjam charts and the album isn't even finished or pressed. That's an accomplishment in itself, let alone the pace at which we work. Once we get the album done and pressed, the sky is the limit. The feedback I've got so far is that this material is far better than my previous work on every level and each song for the album keeps getting better. With that in mind, Faker was one of the first songs to get recorded for the album. If you'd like to check the article out, click on the press link above!!
Have a super week!
08/09/06
Happy Wednesday! Last night I posted a song on myspace called "Everybody hates me." This song is destined to be our next big hit. It started with an idea I had after the Mel Gibson fiasco and my shock to how overblown the incident was. Not because it was right or wrong, but who gives a sh*t what Mel Gibson thinks, especially after a night of boozing. But there everybody was, spouting off at the mouth, collecting their 10 seconds of fame off Mel's inability to hold his liquor. If I had a dollar for every stupid thing that comes out of drunk people's mouths.....
Anyway, pop over to my myspace page and have a listen. This is bound to be a huge hit with everyone, except those who are super serial... and remember "they can never take our freedom!!"
08/02/06
Hi everyone! Jason Irwin debuted "Faker" on WEQX 102.7FM. He made a clever edit as to not offend anyone, but I'm sure everyone understood what I was saying. If they didn't they can just hop over to myspace and hear the real thing. The station will continue to play it on Sunday nights for the next 3 weeks. Please tune in to EQX-posure this and every Sunday night. This also marks the 6th I've had spun on that show, which I'm very proud of!
I also released a newly recorded single version of "Dance" this week on Myspace. It's got more vocals and some extra crunchy guitars. Very summer sounding. Hope on over to Myspace and check it out! Have a good week. There'll be more new music next week!
07/26/06
Today I've posted a new song on Myspace called "Escape." It's actually the first song we recorded, but I'm just getting around to posting it because it really doesn't fit in with the harder stuff. Now that the album is seeing a shift.... I give you "Escape."
"Faker" will make its debut on the local station WEQX this week!! Jason Irwin has been more than kind in playing it before its official release!!! SWEET!!! TUNE IN, this sunday at 7pm to 102.7fm! Thanks Jason!
07/19/06
Someone should let Mr. Bush know that if he vetos the stem cell bill he'll never be able to get the operation for his brain so it can fully develop!
Anyway, I've posted a new tune on myspace called "on your side." It's really my best work to date on a few levels. I think it's the most catchy song I've wrote. We also made leaps and bounds on this one from an engineering/production standpoint, especially the drum sound! This is why you keep recording, you're bound to learn something new! I've said it before, this is why we don't perform live very often. I believe it's the hit single that will catapult you to that level, not extensive touring. And so I write and record....
Be good!

I posted a brand new song on Myspace this week called "When the lights go out." It's another heavy punk type thing. Great song, great energy. Go to MYspace and have a listen! Post a comment and let me know what you think.
Is it just me or does anyone else have a problem with our government tracking us. I don't really care if Porco did it or not but tracking him with a toll ticket and his DNA on it seems sort of disturbing. Each year we allow the government to control us a little bit more and by the time I'm 80 they'll be able to watch our every move at every point in time. But then I won't care cause all they'll be watching is me pooping my own pants!

First off, thanks to everyone who came out to the Great Escape. It was probably our best performance that I can remember and having such a strong crowd filled with great people really makes it happen!!! Thank you!!
Some good news... I've been offered a publishing contract and also I'm in the works for a few more. It seems as if "Faker" has become a hot ticket item and were drawing interest for publishing/licensing deals as a result. It's still very early in the process, but as always, if anything breaks newswise, I'll post it right here. In the meantime, if you wish to hear Faker, you can go to Myspace and listen to it til your heart's content! Have a good week!!
06/28/06
Hey everybody!! We'll be at The Great Escape this weekend playing the 4th of July bash on Saturday night. Right after will be fireworks. The show is free with your paid admission to the park!! We sincerely hope to see you all out there as this will be the best show of the year in our area! Why? Simple, cause I'll be performing! End of story...
06/21/06
Well Miami won the championship last night and I guess that means I have to tip my hat to Pat Riley as much as I hate to, but how bout Dwayne Wade? He seems like a nice boy too. Anywho...
We have a show this Friday at Savannah's where we'll be unveiling about 10 new songs, both original and covers. All in the style of 80's rock. I'm calling it Hair Band Revival Night @ Savannah's! Were gonna be doing songs from the "3 whites." Whitesnake, White Lion and Great White. So this is one of those don't miss bands shows. they don't happen too often, so when they do, they're rather special. I hope to see you there...
06/14/06
All the Lake George shows at the Boardwalk have been canceled for the year. More on that later!
06/07/06
Here we go, the excitement begins this Friday in Lake George at The Boardwalk! We/I got 3 different 3 hour sets of material that we've/I've prepared for this summer. We have an acoustic-band performance at The Great Escape that will highlight the summer on Fourth of July weekend. We also put together a set of hard rock material for Savannah's where we'll unleash portions of the new original material and I have a bunch of 3 hour acoustic guitar-piano performances, with the highlight show at Caffe Lena's in August! I'd also recommend making it out for at least one of the Lake George Shows at The Boardwalk. It's a great place and a great environment. I've listed all the shows on the "shows" page! We put alot of work into these variety of shows so I hope you can catch a chunk of them!! See ya there!
05/31/06
Happy Birthday to former JNBers Amanda and Joe G.!!!!
Ive been getting the best feedback from this stuff than any of my other music! I just posted the 3rd song on myspace, but it's actually the 1st track on the album. It's sweet and the most vulgar and aggressive of the bunch. It's called "The Ballad of Jay Knack" and people will wonder who in the heck Jay Knack is? The song doesn't indicate it, but the credits in the album will!! Is he related to Johnny???? Or is he Johnny???? I guess you'll have to get the album when it's ready!!
I love you all and I'm extremely sorry to the faithful for not writing last week. last week I posted the 2nd track on myspace called "Ready to go." It's the song with my mini Eddie Van Halen solo and my silly Quiet Riot scream!! Anyway, if youre not on the email list, you may have missed it, which is a good reason to sign up!! Go to MySpace and have yourself a listen. I'll see y'all next week!
05/24/06
No journal entry and I'm quite sorry!!
05/17/06
I'm writing this as the Phoenix Suns are in their first overtime in game 5 against the LA Clippers. Im about to have a heart attack watching it. I love Steve Nash, but my man's having an aweful series. Now were headed to a 2nd overtime. Too much excitement for this late at night... if I knew it was gonna go on this long I wouldve stopped and grabbed more beer!!
Well, I put Faker out there on myspace. You wanna hear it???? Go to the MySpace link above! It's the 1st song in the player. The reaction's been great. Alot of fellas like this jam. Im cursing and screaming and all mad at some individual that is a "Faker!" Maybe I should put the exclamation point in the song title.
Anywho, email me at joe@joenacco.com and let me know what you think! Thanks!!
Will Phoenix win? I dont know, by the time you read this you can just go to nba.com and find out!!!
05/10/06 A VERY SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!
(Booking folks and show attendees please read "note from management" at the very bottom of this entry)
Joe Nacco records 80's style Hard Rock Album
Yes, that says what you think it says. Paul and I have been tucked away recording a 5th CD titled "No One Likes A Ballad" and were about half finished. It's sound is comprised of 70% hard rock, 20% 80's hair metal and 20% punk rock. 110% good rock fun. Right now youre either saying to yourself "AWESOME!!!" or "Why?" Here's why.....
1) We grew up on this stuff! This is what we studied when we first got our instruments years ago. It's the music that really influenced us growing up, so it really plays to our strengths and gives a chance to really showcase our musicianship and my vocals. And besides, who doesn't miss howling high pitched screams, fingertapping guitar solos and Bonham drum fills in their music? I know I do. This is our 20 year answer to the greatest album of all-time, "Appetite For Destruction." Something I've always wanted to do and this is the most fun we've ever had recording an album.
2) In case anyone hasn't noticed, we're on a mission. We don't play out much anymore so we can focus on recording. The goal being to leave behind the greatest, most dense and diversified catalog of music in the history of 1 artist. With each passing album this mission will become more and more clear. We're on pace right now to have released "The Lost Art'" "Requiem For Civilization" and "No One Likes A Ballad" all within the span of 1 year (let's not forget that xmas single!). The accolades are just starting to come back from "The Lost Art" so you know were not just throwing garbage out there. In my opinion, the 2 subsequent albums are progressively better in quality and show alot of growth.
3) I also hope to leave behind a legacy as the most versatile singer, musician, songwriter, and producer combined. Something that will be fulfilled only as we continue and complete our work. And also as we continue to experiment into different and exciting genres. This trilogy of albums is only the beginning!
Next week we will release the first single titled "Faker" on Myspace.
This song sounds nothing like anything you've ever heard from us!! You'll probably have a hard time even recognizing my voice. Check your email next week for the links. So far the song has drawn comparisons to Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Guns N' Roses and even Nirvana. Some people in our camp say it's the greatest song we've ever done. You don't want to miss this!! And I promise, all the Joe Nacco hooks are still in there, it's not just a bunch of silly screaming!
note from management:
All shows currently booked will remain the same. Our live performance sound will remain as it always has. At the proper time and venue we will debut the new material.
05/03/06
Look everybody, I'm on time! I don't have much to say at this exact moment. We got all the Lake George shows booked for the summer and I'll get them posted over the weekend. I'm starting to get everything over to my laptop which is changing the times at which do updates, but for now, I'm on time and everything remains the same. The pics are up in the gallery from the last couple shows. Have yourself a good week. Were still hard at work recording "the 5th album." More on that as it breaks. Laters!
04/26/06
Well it's been quite a week!! The news broke earlier that "The Lost Art" picked up 6 honorable mentions in the Billboard World Songwriting Contest. We only submitted 7 songs and the first 6 songs on the album won. Another one of the many reasons you should pick up this album! For all the non-believers, I have posted a new page on this site called "accolades." If you go their you can find scanned copies of the awards and other various accomplishments and the links & photos to back them up. It's a nice page and I'm very proud of whats on it!
The EQX-posure show was a success. Why they're canceling it is beyond me. I can't imagine having that kind of crowd at The Skyline on a Wednesday night had it not been for the performers and Jason & WEQX's involvement. But hey, hopefully the show will pack up and move somewhere else. They do have a nice sound system there though. I'm in the process of getting all the photos posted from that show and the one before with Brother T. My plates just been so big lately I'm having troubles getting these journal entries in on time, let alone alot of the editing. Soon though!
we're still working on the 5th album. For now I'm calling it "the 5th album." It has a name, but at the time I'm keeping things under wrap. We have 3 songs completed already and we've leaked a couple and people are blown away. The consensus amongst friends is that this is far and away the best stuff we've done yet. With the accolades piling up for The Lost Art and Requiem still pretty much wet behind its own ears, you can only imagine what's gonna happen when we release it. Normally I like to keep the expectations low, but I think I can run my mouth and not come anywhere close to over-hyping it. When we get closer to finishing it I'll start to talk more about what the album is. Until next time....
04/19/06
I'm not dead, I've just been working so much on some new material it consumed all my thoughts and I almost completely forgot about this. The next batch of material is gonna blow people away. Just as different as Requiem was to The Lost Art so goes this stuff. Paul's working with me again on this one and were very fired about it!
I hope to see you all on Wednesday at The Skyline, it'd be a nice touch!
04/12/06
I'm not gonna say too much this week as to let others do the talking. It's nice out and I want to go play!! I have a show this Friday with Brother T. As always, it's not going to be like any other solo show you've EVER SEEN from me!! Plus you'll get to see the Joe Nacco/Brother T duet that everyone's been waiting for. Go to the dates page for all the info...
The following is an excerpt off the blog of one of the most popular Upstate NY solo artists, Kev Brock...
"Joe Nacco is already in the works of a 5th album, I know his plans for his next album, but I'm not gonna say anything 'cause I don't want to spoil surprises without his permission. But I tell you, his 5th album is going to be like a Joe Nacco you never heard before. Seriously, you're not going to expect anything when you hear his next album. It won't be out anytime soon 'cause according to his blog on his website, Joe Nacco said he's going to really take his time with it to make it a real good one. I heard the first few songs that Joe plans on putting on his album already and yeah, they are definitely nothing like you heard of Joe's in the past. But I can tell you one thing, that Joe is gonna rock on his next album!! I mean, RAWk!! It's not gonna be anything like you heard on his 3rd album "The Lost Art" either. Everyone knows that he is an obsessive Guns N' Roses fan. Just you wait and keep an eye on http://www.joenacco.com/ to see what his plans are."
04/05/06
I went to NYC over the weekend nd learned 2 things. One, you can spend alot more money in a much shorter time than you can vegas and it's ways more fun! Two, I need to start working on my standup comedy routine. I've got alot of material, I've just got to put it together. You should see the folks line up to watch unknown comedians, it's amazing!! Anyways, I don't have alot to say other than that. There will be a Joe Nacco siting next week at Valentine's and Paul and I have started messing around with album #5. Don't get your hopes up too soon, we're taking our sweet time. You won't see this one for a long time. Although I can tell you one thing, like last time it will be nothing like you expect!!
03/29/06
Well, well, well. I've got a few shows to announce and a bunch of updates here on, yes, this site. I won't ramble on too much about the shows, other than theyre both really good exposure shows! Late April at The Skyline with EQX-posure and July 1st at Six Flags' Great Escape! Please see the 'dates' page for all the details!
Now for the updates. I've been long overdue to get up Requiem For Civilization and the trickle down effect of the lyrics and the links to buy it etc.. etc.. So you can have a look at all that if you wish. THE MOST IMPORTANT UPDATE ON THE SITE IS..... the all-new Band Page!!!!! Included on the new band page is something I like to call the JNB/HEAD Hall of Fame! This is a tribute to each and every member of each and every band I've been in!! Please go have a look. I think it's really cool and its in chronological order!!
So have a super week and I'll see ya soon!
03/22/06
Wow! If I were you I'd be all about watching South Park tonight. What's up with Isaac Hayes? Looks like Tom Cruise finally got to him! If you don't know what I mean, go google it or something, or just tune in!
So I know something you don't know. The Arctic Monkeys are gonna be the biggest band in the country very very soon. Their album is so hot that I can't hold it in my hand for any length of time. I could be wrong but I get that eerie feeling I got when I listened to other albums such as "(What's the story) Morning Glory," "OK Computer" and "A Rush of Blood to the Head." Time will tell on this, but if you don't know who they are, go find out. I know a little something about music and they've got that mojo magic.
Back to Joe Nacco! Not alot going on this week. I got the lnks up on the site here to get your copy of the new concept album Requiem For Civilization. It's on the front page and on the 'merch' page as well. Go have a look and buy the CD. It's awesome, everyone's talking about it and everytime I listen to it, I get the same feeling I get when I listen to the Arctic Monkeys. Too bad RFC doesn't have the label backing or I'd say that it would be the biggest album in the country. But I do have YOU. TELL YOUR FRIENDS!! Requiem For Civilization! Joe Nacco for mayor in '08. Rock on!
My good buddy Dan Herman's gonna be spinning a few tracks this weekend on his show on Radio Crystal Blue. Please click here to see what it's all about. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!
03/15/06
I just want to thank everyone who came out to Valentine's last Friday. It was a great show and although it wasn't quite the turnout the full band had, those who were there had a ton of fun. We had a bunch of great performers (congarts to Xoch, Kev Brock Maurizio & Craig for putting on great shows). I just threw my set list out the window, called it "fan appreciation night" and let everyone request songs. I also had 4 guest performers and that really brought the show to life. Here's how the set went.
1. You're Beautiful (james blunt cover)
2. Down
3. Good Vibrations (beach boys cover)
4. Follow you around
5. Sometimes
6. Natural Disaster
7. Patience (GNR cover w/Maurizio & Kev Brock)
8. Sloop John B (beach boys cover w/Bud Nacco)
9. Takin' a dump (w/Brother T)
10. I love le$bians (w/Brother T)
11. *Medley* A light and a tone/Bohemian Rhapsody/A day in the life
So if you didn't go that's what you missed. Brother T and I are gonna do another show like this on April 14th, same time, same place. I'll probably do something similar, but I'm sure Brother T and I will plan out some more antics and illusions. MARK THIS ON YOUR CALENDAR!!
An extra special thank you to Kev Brock who covered a song i wrote called DOWN. It was an honor and it truly made my night!!
We got alot of great pics of the show back from not only Rob, but some very cool pics from local photograper Al Goldberg. Im in the process of putting them on the site. So have a look when you can....
03/08/06
Well the show was a huge success and theres a list of people I need to thank. Everyone of you who came out and was part of the show, I can't tell you how much it means to me. As always, thanks Rob for the huge media campaign that was a success in itself. Charlie, Brian and Paul for playing their as$es off and being true professionals. Long Story short and Vince for putting this thing together. The Lone Peaches for putting Scott Stapp on hold and coming all the way back to perform, you guys rock!! Last but not least Greg Haymes @ The Times Union, Phillip Scwartz @ The Gazette and Kathryn Lurie @ The Metroland for the articles. You can click on their names to see the scanned articles they wrote! Also thanks everyone at 99.5FM The River, 102.7FM WEQX, 91.5FM WRPI & 103.1FM WHRL for their help in promoting the show, as well as the airplay!!
It doesn't end there either, there's another show this Friday. A solo encore performance at Valentines again this Friday, but a bit earlier. The show starts at 6pm and I go on 4th in a lineup of 5. I cant even guess exactly when I'm going on, but you'll enjoy waiting for me to go on cause we have a solid lineup including 2 very good buddies of mine, Kev Brock and Maurizio. These guys are both awesome and you don't want to miss them!!
Maurizio is coming off a sold-out John Lennon tribute show at Caffe Lena's so his energy for the show should be at an all-time high!! Maybe if I publicly bait him, he'll perform one of those songs he did. I'd prefer "I'm only sleeping," but anything will do!! Craig the Golden Age of Radio is coming up from NYC to open the show. I don't know the kids from Xoch, but they'll be there from Poughkeepsie and their Myspace page is hot because they have a cover of "Kyle's Mom" on their player!! They also have a song on Laguna Beach!!
Anyways, I have a very special setlist of my own. For the first time in my life I'm going to play the current #1 song in the country!! And no, it's not "Drop it like it's hot." I also guarantee to play the other songs from Requiem For Civilization that we didn't perform last week. You hear that Patty??? Anyways, I hope to see you all again and I thank everyone reading this!! There's new pics up in the gallery from the show!! Go have a look... See ya Friday!!
03/01/06
Here's my little mystery link. The CD Release Party is Friday and it's really gonna be the best show I've EVER been involved in. I can't stress that enough. I'm telling you now, if you're reading this, you CAN NOT MISS THIS SHOW!! Anyone who knows me, knows I don't go on like this unless I mean it. Ive got alot of great people involved in this show and it's really gonna be incredible. Not just this Friday either. I also realized that Greg Haymes did a nice write up in the TU Preview and would like to give him a big shout out as welll as the Metroland who did their write up last week!!
I really hope to see you all out there on Friday!!
02/22/06
I only have one thing to say this week.... Please click this link and read!!
Oh yeah, one more thing. How can your entire presidency hinge on how youre fighting terrorism as a result of 9/11 and then this port thing goes down and you publicly say you had no idea, but youre ok with it. I swear sometimes I just shake my head. It's so confusing to follow and to put the pieces together as to how theyve spun things over the last 6 years I don't think anyone knows anything anymore. It's like they continue to say whatever they think is gonna get them through the day. How bout for once saying "we f*cked up and we'll fix it" because walking a line between never admitting you're wrong and telling the public what they want to hear, creates some very silly contradictions and lies. And the number of times the Bush administaration has contradicted itself... Who the f*ck voted for this guy??? And if you don't know what I'm talking about, it's time for YOU to pick up a newspaper and find out.
02/15/06
Well I'm back from Las Vegas and we're still number 1 on BandRadio, which should put to rest the rumors that I'm sitting around my house requesting my own song with 20 computers!! Anyways, this week we're #1 with the new single "Sometimes." "Sometimes" has also been put into rotation on WEQX and CRUMBS Radio. "By Your Side" just started getting airplay on another internet radio station called NeverEndingWonder. I guess they found the song off a radio sampler that were on and they really loved it! That's always a day-brightener when someone sends you that email.
Unfortunately, reaLation. had to back out of the CD Release Party. However, Vince will still be performing with Long Story Short and I'm working on getting a very special replacement. I'll let you know as soon as I do who that will be.
Dick Cheney shot his friend on a hunting trip. So many clever jokes come to mind, but most of them would have the secret service at my door, so I'll let it go.
You all have a good week and if you're ever in Las Vegas look out for Black Widow spiders!
02/08/06
Well everyone, Im in Las Vegas! Im not gonna say much, other than I brought my laptop (every hotel these days has the internet at a ridiculous price!) because I dont want to let the Wednesday regulars down. And then to just rub it in a bit, this is my hotel and this is the view from my window! Have yourselves a good week, wherever you are!!!

"And this is why I only shop at Walmart..." by Joe Nacco
I got a Gateway laptop from Best Buy for Christmas (sort of). Put some really awesome recording programs on it and the first time using the recording software, the thing fries out completely and is dead. Best Buy wont let me swap it for a new one because they have the worst return policy in the industry, so they tell me they have to send it back to Gateway and that it's possibly not even guaranteed. I bought my Dad a portable DVD player from Walmart that broke twice and the 2nd time they just gave me all my cash back. Alot of people get angry about the Walmart Corp and them running mom and pop shows out of town. Well guess what? Walmart always takes care of me!! So I always shop there, unless I have store credit somewhere else.....
Sorry this is a day late, but while I was writing this I got notice from the Apple Store in Xgates that FedEx accidently shipped it back to them. I go there and pick it up and all's well that ends well. Unless Best Buy had planned on charging me for the repairs, in which case it doesn't end so well for them! Every store should be like Walmart!!
In other exciting news...
One Time Only Performance (mark your calenders)
March 3rd, Valentines 10pm, write it down. The CD release party for "Requiem For Civilization." I've assembled a crack team of local musicians to accompany me for the night and help me perform the concept album in a live setting. I assure you this is going to be the most incredible performance I've ever been involved in and it will never happen again. I'll be performing a variety of instruments in order to recreate the album live!
Musician lineup for the evening: Joe Nacco: Vocals, Piano, Lead and Acoustic Guitar Charlie Morris: Acoustic Guitar & Vocals Brian Richards: Bass Paul Salamone: Drums & Vocals
Also on the bill: reaLation. Long Story Short
Everyone on this bill has very special stuff planned including 'guest appearances' and an 'end of the night jam' (which I will be involved in). I cant stress enough not to miss this.
01/25/06
"By Your Side" is still no. 1 on BandRadio.com and "Inside My Room" was recently name the no. 7 song of 2005 on CRUMBS Radio. These songs are both off The Lost Art which was the no. 13 album of 2005 on rkstar.com. Do you have this album? If you answered no, you have to ask yourself, "Why not?" Go to CDBaby and find out how to solve this problem!!!
I've been sitting here all day trying to think of something funny to say and quite frankly, I'm speechless. For the first time in my life, I have nothing funny to say. There's things going on in the news, but I've already touched upon so many. So all I have to say is....
GO BUY THE LOST ART!! Requiem For Civilization will be available soon and you can't have one without the other!! Peace out.
01/18/06
We have a #1 single!! "By Your Side" has reached the top of the charts on Bandradio.com, please go have a look. CLICK LINK. I really wanted to thank everyone who has requested it, my words truly cannot express my appreciation.
I'm also being featured on the front page of this highly popular international website. CLICK LINK
OK, for those of you don't know here's how inflation works. Scum sucking @#$%face fuel companies drive up their prices, simply because they can or they use excuses like natural disasters to spin it to the public. From here, other companies now have to adjust their prices so they dont go under (see the recent postal rate changes). Over the course of the next few years, maybe even a decade, the prices all adjust and the economy balances out. Slight problem though, lower to middle class workers will continue to get their regular wage increases per year, but never a wage increase to reflect this "inflation." I know a 70 year old homeowner here in my hometown who can't put his heat above 50 this year because he's on a fixed income and has $60 leftover a month. I doubt the fuel company heads are expeiencing anything like this. I'm not naming names, but we all know the people in this country who have their hands deep in the oil/fuel companies. We actually employ some of these people to lead us.
So instead of "inflation" we really should call it what it is, "sticking it hard to lower and middle income workers." You can clearly see why they use the word "inflation." This is what my new album is about and we just got the shipment on Friday. It looks great and I hope everyone will get a chance to listen and maybe this will open up some eyes, or maybe it won't...
I got the chance to see and meet a bunch of talented singer-songwriters this weekend. I'm always surprised to see how many people have great songwriting talent right in my own town. I think we ended up catching 7 acts and they were all good. So seriously people, get out there and check some music in the Capital District, that is, if you can afford to even leave youre house!
01/11/06
We got a ton of great news this week. Rather than repost the email, I'll leave a link to a bulletin I posted, that way I won't bore anyone on my email list! Here's the link!
Howard Stern is a very sad case study. For those of you who don't know, he started his run with Sirius this week and he promises str!ppers and live s3x on the show. He's just going to far and dragging down what fragment of morals our society has left. Now I love potty jokes and I'm quick to laugh at things like South Park etc.., I'm no Holy Roller by any means. This is a talented man just throwing it all out the window for a quick buck (actually about 720 million in salary & stocks). He better hope there's no God, cause I can't even begin to imagine that conversation at the pearly gates with Saint Peter!! Let us pray that he takes that money and gives it to third world countries or something, then I can rescind my public lashing, not like he cares...
But Duran Duran and Broadjam do!! You'll have to use your imagination to know what I mean.
01/04/06
Another year rolls in... I'd like to welcome 2006 to my life and wish you all a good year. That being said...
There's only a few episodes left of Arrested Development (airs on Fox at 8pm on Mondays). If you're out there reading this and haven't seen this show, you're about to miss out on the greatest sitcom in the history of television. In a day of reality TV no one really cares though. Had this show come out after Cheers closed out its run, it would've been what Seinfeld is, maybe even better. The humor is a little more intelligent than the average human can handle and I think that's working against itself, but given that fact the show has built itself a hardcore group of loyal fans. Hopefully Showtime will indeed pick it up and un-edit it, because that would really be even better!!
I got a chance to check out Sauce on Friday night and they were just as incredible as a band as Adam and Dylan were alone. We got to snap off a group shot at the end. I think the kids from Greenwich are mad at the photographer or something. I seem to be the only one not holding a bird! Go check the gallery...
I'm going to call Oasis manufacturing company and find out the status of the project we all like to call "Requiem For Civilization." It took me 5 weeks to record, mix and master this album. They're on their 5th week now of manufacturing, so can it really be much longer...
