Song notes:
This is the second to last song I wrote for the album. It's becoming everybody's favorite song on the album. It's definitely me and Paul's favorite song. It has a nice summer feel to it and it's about rekindling an old flame. It's quite different from alot of the stuff I usually write. Some say its similar to a Jack Johnson or a John Mayer song, which is kind of ironic when you trace it's roots. I was playing all those Lake George shows around the time I wrote it and I was learning alot of Beach Boys songs for the shows. Brian Wilson uses alot of major7th chords and I was just starting to become very familiar with those chords and henceforth how this song came about. These chords are also popular for jazz guitar as well. It's also my best written bass line and second best guitar solo on the album. So in honor of my California roots....

Production notes:
This is the second of "The Big Three" (the others being "It's OK" and "When You're Lonely"). "The Big Three" are the 3 songs I went to town on from a production standpoint. It wasn't until it was complete that we all saw the beauty of the song. We just kept mocking it, maybe cause we didn'tunderstand it. At one point we we're calling it the "Love Boat Song." It also got recorded twice cause it didn't quite capture the feel I was looking for the 1st time through. It has the most instruments on it (drums, bass, 2 acoustic guitars, 3 clean electric guitars, a Rhodes and a church organ). I started to get a 70's feel and went with it. Thats why I brought out the Rhodes and the organ and stayed clean with the electric guitars (especially the solo). Check out the very ending, my voice slips into a monster reverb on the fade as I hit the highest note I can sing, I thought it was a sweet and original idea.

Lyrics:
I never thought I'd see you walk through that door
I never thought I'd see your face again
Why don't we just cool it out for today
There is nothing in my eyes that should make you feel this way

There is time between us now and things don't seem so hard
There is love in between our eyes and we don't have to say....
It's OK

Come on girl don't lose it now if only for today
We don't have to do this thing today
Why don't we just lay it down for today
There is nothing in my heart that should make you feel this way

There is time between us now and things don't seem so hard
There is love in between our eyes and we don't have to say....
It's OK

(jazz-style guitar solo)

Take your heart and place it in my hands
Don't back down from anything that you feel
Why don't we just make it work if only for today
There is nothing in my mind that should make you feel this way

There is time between us now and things don't seem so hard
There is love in between our eyes and we don't have to say....
It's OK
