Punk rock! This song I wrote late in 2003 for the Joe Nacco Band. It was a staple of our live show. It's an energetic song that really got everyone all fired up. We had recorded it for a 3 song demo with the Joe Nacco Band along with "Sand Castle" and "Slow Down." It's an awesome song and was always meant to be on whatever the next album was to become, which is this album of course.
Production notes:
I went back to the original tapes and extracted Paul's drum track and started from scratch. Paul's performance on this is absolutely incredible. We worked it out together with 2 different ideas that he formed into one seemingly impossible idea. So in a split second he goes from playing a straight ahead beat to a tribal beat and back for the intros and guitar solo. I added a melodic "Duran Duran style" bassline, an acoustic guitar, and 2 slightly distorted electric guitars. Where I once screamed "get out" at the top of my lungs, there is now 4 Joe's singing a 4-part harmony of "get out." This was all in an effort to turn down the edginess, just slightly. Hopefully so the older generation can truly appreciate what I've always thought was one of the best vocal melodies I've wrote.
Paul says he can no longer listen to this song in his living room at night. He says it scares him cause when my harmony chant of "GET OUT!!" comes on, he thinks there's 12 people on his porch screaming at him telling him to come outside. Paul sort of remided me of Tweak from South Park when he said that.
