I started doing this is 2002 when I built the site. Now they call it blogging?!?! Joe Nacco Newsletter Send us your email and we'll send you awesome reports from our record label. You get the news first! Today we released our new single "She's a Zombie" for FREE right here on joenacco.com! Check out the mp3 page for the download. This is the first original to feature all the members and there will be a video soon. Please check it out! Also, we have a slew of shows coming which technically started this past Thursday. Check out the show page! 01/28/12 We've had two shows get moved back to extend our mini break a little longer. We've been working on some great new material and this will give us more time be ready! Check the show page, we'll see you soon! 01/13/12 We spent the past weekend recording cover songs and taking photos for 2012. We feel we've tightened up a bit sonically and visually since the last promo material was done. We made a little picture video with a medley of the covers below. It's nice recap of 2011 for those into new year recaps of the previous year! Also I posted the pictures and MP3s up and around the site to give the site a quick face lift. Enjoy!! 01/01/12 Happy New Year!! We closed out the year at Pinhead Susan's with a bang. We had Mike Thomas stop by and sing some songs with us and a bunch of great friends of ours were there. You can see it all on the gallery page! 2011 was a good year for us. We rebuilt our name a bit and got back into a bunch of venues we always played and a few more we didn't. We plan on regrouping this month with new songs and a new press kit and plan to do some great booking for 2012. We already have dates into June right now; so look for a fantastic 2012 from the JNB! Please check the gallery and show page for more info!! 12/07/11 Boo! Scared you? Didn't expect to see me here? It's been a month. I've posted all the upcoming dates into the summer of 2012!! Of course more shows will be added as we go, but our favorite places to play have given us dates into the summer. So there you go... The greatest hits cd "Closer" is still tucked away in my bedroom. Waiting for the right time to release it. We released the video for It's Christmas Time (Let's Get Drunk) on our YouTube page. You can also see it here... Don't forget our shows this week. Acoustic Duo at Ambition Cafe on Thursday and full band at TJ's Flightline Pub on Saturday! 11/07/11 I haven't been on here too much lately because we've been letting the music do the talking! We just finished up 3 shows in 10 days, each with positive results! In fact we've already been rebooked for November 18th at the Albany Bombers! See the show page for more dates. Joe Nacco's Greatest Hits (simply titled Closer) is back from the manufacturer. It looks and sounds great!! I spent a ridiculous amount of time re-mixing, re-editing and re-mastering so that each song would sound like it was recorded at the same time and in a high quality studio. The tracklisting is below. You can get it now by coming to one of our shows or wait for the official release (I'm guessing 2 weeks from today). Hope you are safe and warm!! 1. These are eyes 2. Closer 3. Souls 4. California 5. Who you once were 6. Faker 7. By your side 8. Breathe 9. I'm an alcoholic 10. Down 11. It's Christmas time (let's get drunk) 10/03/11 I've added our next round of shows to the "show" page. We kick it off with a Halloween party on October 29th at Rolling Stone! and we hope to see you there!! 09/23/11 As the brits say "we're on holiday." But that doesn't mean I've been sitting around. I have been compiling Joe Nacco's Greatest Hits. Not likely I'll call it that, but you never know. I've been going through my best songs from over the years and remixing, rediting, remastering and in some instances rerecording tracks or doing punch-ins. I always pondered what I'd release if I got a major record deal and assumed I'd take my ten best songs and polish them. Well I don't think I'm getting my record deal so I just went ahead and did it anyway. I will try to have it mass produced by the fall. In the meantime, enjoy this... I Saw Her Standing There 08/17/11 It's official. We just released the video for the new single "These Are Eyes" on YouTube. It's a fast paced Beatles meets Blink 182 type of song. The video is the craziest and most elaborate yet. The others took a few hours to shoot and this one took us two grueling days. As goofy as some of the scenes are they were not easy to pull off. I have a great amount of respect for actors and stunt men after this one. The video has been released on YouTube, iTunes, CDBaby and Amazon as of today. Check out the link above for much more information. I'm going to lay down and take a nap... All hail Jason Statham!! 08/02/11 A few things fell in place the other day and I got to meet Michelle Branch (see picture). She was like "aren't you Joe Nacco from the Joe Nacco Band?!" And I was like "who the heck are you?!" She was like "can you sign my copy of The Lost Art?!" And I was like "whatever, I got a concert to play." Now reverse that story and that's how it went!! I posted a few pictures in the gallery from Trick Shots and were playing Katie O'Byrnes on Saturday and then taking a little break to record a new song and video. So catch us now!! 07/27/11 So if you haven't heard, we didn't win that SPAC contest. However, we got a ton of promotion and a bunch of new fans resulting in some renewed interest in the JNB. So many thanks to Mrozek, Q103 and our fans for supporting us. I leave a few links to Q103's site with some kind words... Round 1 recap with photos Rould 1 promotion with I'm An alcoholic video post 07/11/11 I posted pictures from Bootlegger's on Broadway and more pics from the Great Escape because I know everyone loves pictures. Our next show is July 22nd at Savannah's as we Play for the Stage! Stay tuned... 07/09/11 A pleasant surprised popped up in my inbox yesterday; the type of thing that NEVER happens. The finalists for Q103's Q-Ruption Play for the Stage were announced and the winners are... Besides our humble little Joe Nacco Band you'll notice Tamerlane in there. Lead singer Chris Itani is the star of our I'm an Alcoholic video. So instead of a footrace there will be a band showdown! Come cheer us on July 22 at Savannah's 9pm. More details on the show page. 07/03/11 Happy 4th to you all. Great Escape was a blast!! We learned a lot from last year and got a tent and played in a much better location. We may be back before year's end! We added two shows for July and I put one picture up from the Great escape. Have a look! 06/28/11 I put some pictures up of the Pinhead Susan's show. We will be doing our annual Great Escape show on Saturday. They have us in a much better location this year. Fingers crossed for nice weather. Hope to see you there. 06/13/11 We had a great time at the Bayou Saturday. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us!! There was a bridal shower going on and they seemed to enjoy us and kept things interesting. I believe we'll be headed to the Glenville Bayou sometime later this summer. Thanks to Aaron, Ralph and the rest of the Bayou. There are pics up in the gallery. See you at Pinhead's on Friday!! 05/31/11 We have all been very pleased by the results of the "I'm An Alcoholic" video. We received a little over 400 plays in the first week. This interest also sparked a couple hundred plays for some of our other videos, which is a good sign. I love music videos so rest assured there will be more to come!! I'm already putting the finishing touches on the composition of a brand new song. Hoping for a fall release... stay good and buy our singles on iTunes and Amazon! 05/22/11 Saturday was a big and busy day. JNB debuted at the Rolling Stone and we used the opportunity to shoot the video for I'm An Alcoholic! Both went far better than any had anticipated. People were dancing to us all night which hasn't happened in a long time, so we'll definitely be back there. The video was great. My actors did an amazing job. Every scene was delivered, especially Mark's fight stopper! Good job to all and many, many thanks!! So many things had to line up for everything to work out. Anyways, there are links all over the place to I'm An Alcoholic. Scroll up if you can figure it out. Also, go check the gallery for all sorts of pictures from the shoot and the Rolling Stone show. The single will be for sale in a few days on iTunes. If you can't wait you can find it on CDBaby.com. The video seems to be a hit as its had 300 plays in 2 days and its gathering speed! Check it out! 05/19/11 This Saturday will debut the new and vastly improved Joe Nacco Band at the Rolling Stone in Burnt Hills (9:30pm). This will be Mike's first show with us and we have a whole new set list to debut as well. To sweeten the pot a little we will be filming scenes of a music video for our new and final version of "I'm an Alcoholic." This will take place at the end of the first set and during that break. So if you want to be in a music video make sure you're there by 10pm! I anticipate the video and single to be released sometime next week on iTunes, amazon.com and so on and so on!! 05/17/11 Saturday's the big debut! It is more of a test run/warmup show to be honest. We'll be trying out all the new material and it'll be our first show with Mike before we hit the big shows. The Rolling Stone is a perfect environment for this sort of thing. We've done a ridiculous amount of work and I've never learned more lyrics and solos in such a short period of time. We also went back to the few old songs we kept and learned them correctly. It should be fun and loose and we hope to see you there. On a different note, my time with Tamerlane has come to an end. They now begin their search for a full time lead guitarist. I had a ton of fun with those guys. It was like reliving my teenage years playing guitar solos in a metal band. I wish them the best and although I will not be at their show this Friday @ Dublin's, I encourage you all to go!! 05/02/11 Got a few pics of the Tamerlane show up in the gallery... 05/01/11 On Friday I said goodbye to all the others and these are the three that remain... Joe Nacco's Big 3 The guy on right is my Chris Bosh, but I still like him. 04/25/11 A big shout out to Jason Irwin of EQX for the acoustic showcase!! It was a good time and we had a nice receptive crowd who seemed to enjoy what we were doing. We got out first tip and encore request in a long time! Pictures are up in the gallery and don't forget the Tamerlane show on Wednesday! Should be a good one!! 04/14/11 Another show has been added to the list. JNB @ The Rolling Stone May 21 9:30pm!! Closer also cracked the top 10 in hard rock on broadjam.com!! Check it out here. 04/12/11 Looks like we'll have another batch of shows to add to the list in the next few days. Stay tuned. Also, we added more pics to the gallery. Thanks. 04/08/11 The Ambition Cafe was lovely as usual. A nice packed room of courtesy and joy! Pictures to reflect in the gallery. Our new sound system was room filling without being noisy so it looks like I can ditch the clumsy old PA! I'll know for sure after band practice. I have two more shows at the end of this month. Stay tuned. Thanks for coming out! 04/03/11 Another date added. Looks like a busy June!! We have been booked for Pinhead Susan's on June 17th at 9pm. Have a look at the "shows" page. 04/01/11 This is no April Fools joke... we will be playing The Bayou Cafe in Albany on June 11, 2011 from 7-9:15pm!! This is another major show in our lineup of summer shows this year. Please write it down and we hope to see you there!! 03/30/11 We were gonna announce all the shows at once for the summer, but this one is so cool I have to give a teaser. JNB @ Katie O' Byrnes June 25, 2011 9:30pm!! More to follow... 03/29/11 If anyone at home is wondering what badass looks like it's a cross between this and this (not me, the gear). The Tamerlane show was a huge success. They asked us back to headline on May 20th so write that down in your little black book! The band has become a nice outlet for me and my constant state of guitar soloing. I have put a few more pics of the show in the gallery. Go have a look and see! The JNB is still hard at work. I think we're just about at the 30-song mark with about 10 to go. Mike, Rob and I are hard at work at lining up some good shows and will announce them all at the same time. Stay tuned! 03/22/11 We have the Tamerlane show at Dublin's show this week. I believe we are the only band left from the original bill as we are now playing with Surface and Catching Cadence. This will be the official debut of Tamerlane and the lineup is vastly different from the last show and it should be good! Come check it out. I also posted a new April show for Tamerlane opening for Jesse Malin at Bogies. The JNB is hard at work. We have revamped our setlist and things are coming together nicely. Everyone enjoys playing every song and there in lies the difference. Me, Rob and Mike are all working on booking so we should have some good stuff on the way! We'll keep you posted. 03/17/11 Our first video. So happy st patrick's day! 03/16/11 Ladies and gentlemen we'd like to welcome Mike Esposito to the Joe Nacco Band. Mike's been playing drums for a long time and brings a lot of talent and experience to our band. Mike has been a key member of the Fizziks and reaLation and played countless shows around the area. His style and personality really blends with ours and we're off to a great start. We'll have a bunch of show announcements soon and I put a picture on the JNB page and two on the gallery for all to see. Stay tuned!! 03/11/11 Lose a show, add a show. The March 18th show at Jonathan's has been canceled and won't be made up. Jason Irwin has confirmed the Joe Nacco Duo for his acoustic showcase in Queensbury on April 23rd. See the show page for further details. We will be doing some recording this weekend. This time promo stuff for the new line-up (videos, mp3s, photos). Hopefully we'll have everything up on Monday and Tuesday with an announcement on the drummer. And then let the booking begin. Should be a busy summer. Closer broke two top 10 lists on Broadjam.com and also was put into rotation on the #1 internet radio station in the world, Los Angeles based iRadioLA 104. To see what the fuss is about look for the link above to Closer or visit the mp3 page. Thanks and be good! 02/27/11 We've added a few more shows to the "shows" page on this site. I'm expecting many more to follow as there seems to be a renewed focus on booking and we got an extra helper this time around! Please go have a look... In my previous post I talked about The Broken reforming with only Chris and Mike going forward. I'm still their "live lead guitarist" and they've added a cellist and violinist and were called Tamerlane. Our first show will be at Dublin's in Troy. More details are on the "shows" page. I actually haven't heard any of their new material but I will in next week or two! Stay tuned. 02/22/11 It's a been a heck of a month!! The Broken disbanded and 2 of the guys have started up a new acoustic project with a cellist and violinist to start, maybe more. I will probably do a show or two down the road with them as their lead guitarist. The Joe Nacco Band is going strong. We revamped the set list and got rid of all our lame covers and found some good covers that everyone is excited about playing. The new drummer went on vacation and that has allowed a little time for me to acquire three gems. One, I finally found a Gibson Zakk Wylde that is in fantastic condition! And so cheap it's like I stole it! Two, I was able to grab a gorgeous cutaway Taylor for the acoustic shows that we are taking on. And three, I also finally found the real sized cab for my Marshall half stack (which started out as a TSL with a Vintage cab and has morphed into a DSL with a LEAD cab, cause I heart the 80's). President's Day sales are the best. I did lose a few pieces of gear to do this, but it's truly a Carmelo Anthony situation. There's only 1500 people in the world with a Gibson Zakk. And Zakk has #1 and I have #167, so... We are working out the details of two more acoustic shows. One is a return to the Ambition Cafe on March 10; awaiting final word. Also, awaiting a finalized date on Jason Irwin's acoustic showcase at Chicago Grill in Queensbury. I anticipate the band to start playing out in late April or Early May unless there's an unannounced test run. Either way I will always drop all the news here or on the Facebook page. In the meantime, here's a few pics to hold you over... Picture#1 and Picture#2. 01/31/11 Both shows went very well over the weekend. I have a few pics posted for Ambition and I will get the Bogies pics up as soon as I get them. Unfortunately the lead singer of Days of the New went missing after their last show and blew off Bogies which is about par for the course, eh? All in all, there were about 150 people there and most of them were fans of the local bands and no one seemed disappointed. I certainly wasn't. No offense to the loyal Days of the New fans, but I'd rather see Marcy's Playground or Mazzy Star if I'm going to see a 90's artsy one hit wonder band. Even more exciting news, everything got off to a great start with the new drummer. We plowed through 9 songs without issue and discussed some goals and rehashing of our band song list. Maybe by March or April the Joe Nacco Band will be out in full force. Stay tuned... 01/26/11 Tomorrow night is the big return to the Ambition Cafe. I haven't played there in 4 years and it has always been one of my favorite places to play. So I'm really looking forward to this. In addition, my other band The Broken will be opening up for the very popular 90's band Days of the New this Sunday. We will be doing an acoustic set for that as well. Big acoustic weekend! Make sure to catch at least one of these shows. Check out the details on the "shows" link above. Other news... Our rehearsal with the new drummer got pushed back to this weekend... The "mint condition" Used Gibson Zakk Wylde I bought from Guitar Center in Maryland arrived at my home with a bad twist in the neck; you can make your own conclusion... We were rebooked for The Great Escape on July 2, 2011. We had always enjoyed playing the 4th of July weekend up there, so it is good to have the date back! That's all the music news I have for now, stay warm! 01/14/11 Just returned from our annual Key West trip. You forget so quickly just how cold it really is here!! While I was down there 2 very important things happened on the music front. One, I received the call from the drummer and he's good to go. We will have our first rehearsal on the 23rd of this month!! The second thing was I closed the deal on the Zakk Wylde Gibson I have long desired since I was a small boy trying to play the solo for No More Tears. Which means next week I will have in my possession the two Gibson Les Pauls of the players I grew up idolizing. You may be thinking, don't you already have the Zakk Wylde guitar? Enthusiasts and googlists will understand. Very much looking forward to playing some band shows again! In the meantime we have the Joe Nacco Duo at Ambition cafe on January 27th and The Broken opening for Days of the New at Bogies on January 30th. The Broken show will also be acoustic. Check the show page for more info. See you soon!! 01/01/11 Happy new year!! 2010 was a great year is so many ways. From a music standpoint it was our best year since 2005. Especially towards the end of the year. We played some great shows. We released, hands down, our best music ever. We got a great video out there in Closer. Our Christmas song was brought back to life! Most importantly we saw the birth and development of the Joe Nacco Duo, which will only grow with our return to Ambition Cafe. Which brings us to 2011, which should be an even better year. We have the Ambition show lined up and another video and single all due out in the first few month or two. We will have a drummer joining us soon (not that I mind dressing up and playing drums at all). So there's a lot of promising things going on in our camp. Last year my New Year's resolution was to utilize my wake up time to practice guitar since I never used to practice guitar. So everyday I wake up at 4 or 5 and play my electric guitar for at least two hours unplugged. I specifically wanted to develop two keys aspects of my soloing that I never gave much thought to in the past and it was really limiting my abilities. As it turns out I only missed the early morning practicing the 10 days I was out of town this year. If you take a good listen to Down and Closer you can hear the difference. I was quite surprised at not only the effect it had on my soloing, but also my rhythm playing and oddly enough my drumming?!?! So my New Year's resolution is to continue to do that and see where it goes. Hopefully I can play like Vai by 2012!!! Happy New Year to everyone and stay tuned!! 12/28/10 I can't recall having so many news updates... I have revamped the MP3 page for your listening pleasure and navigatory ease. As I have abandoned the album concept and have just been releasing singles for the past two years I have reflected that so you could see the work in its entirety. Closer is the only song that is not free. Some are direct links to the MP3 and others are links to pages I made dedicated to the song with an MP3 link. Please visit "MP3s" above. Enjoy your day! 12/27/10 The feedback was great for Down, thanks to everyone who wrote in! The video for Closer is also picking up some steam in its fifth week. It's had 520 plays in 5 weeks. As I've said, that would be an utter failure for Bon Jovi, but for Bon Nacco it's about to take out my 2nd most played video of all time (Faker with 570 plays). A lot of people have also wrote me to tell me they heard It's Christmas Time (Let's Get Drunk) this year on the radio. I guess with the tough times maybe this year was the year that song connected??? Anywho, we'll keep plugging away on the promotion for Closer and Down. We have another song recorded and we'll be shooting a video for that shortly! It's actually one of the first songs I ever wrote and it's from the Head album "Denter" which is out of print. We still perform the song regularly so it'll be nice to have it available again. The video will be another laugher of course. I just can't take this seriously anymore... We had a great Christmas and I hope you did as well! 12/22/10 MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! To get your dose of news and YOUR Christmas present from the Joe Nacco Band... click here!! 12/18/10 Ladies and Gentlemen, the Joe Nacco Duo is extremely excited to announce our return to the Ambition Cafe on January 27th!! We will be performing a nice mix of covers and originals and giving away 20 copies of the new single Closer! I may even bring my piano for old times sake! As many of you know the Ambition Cafe was a regular show of mine prior to 2006 when I moved to California and I always had great success there. The show runs from 5:30-8pm and it's on a Thursday in our beloved Schenectady which suits a lot of my peeps. Mark Johnston will be joining me that night and we'll be playing a nice variety of instrumentation. Do not miss this event. Best of all it is a FREE show!! Other tid bits... Mark and I will be recording this weekend and I'm telling what song... The Closer video crept up over 400 plays this week after its 3rd week on YouTube, which for us is great since it is on pace to pass Faker in about 2 weeks for our 2nd most played video all-time on YouTube... We are still going strong on CRUMBS as I am the top played artist and have the top played song as well... Closer is also staying in rotation at WEQX. If you want to hear it on the radio, call in and request... That's all I got. Don't forget to check in. Friend or like us on Facebook or Twitter and get the updates quicker!! 12/14/10 Michael Jackson's new CD comes out today!! As promised, I have posted a bunch of pics from the Broken/Taproot show on the photo page here. I collected what I thought was the best photos that everyone had taken. The next Broken show is January 30th opening for Days of the New at Bogies! So don't miss out on the fun. Send us an email or something and get your tickets now. They're only $10 and they are going quick!!! Joe Nacco Band News Mark and I will be recording another song this weekend (or at least starting it). We anticipate the real drummer to join us after the holidays and we're looking into adding a rhythm guitarist as well. Hopefully this new lineup will take the stage in the spring for our next round of shows!! Rob and I are working on a string of winter acoustic duo shows and we'll keep you posted!! 12/13/10 I'm pretty sure Closer was played again on EQXposure last night. I didn't hear because we were playing the Taproot show. It was a great time and we got some pics coming! We didn't play first as expected it went by ticket sales and we sold the most so we got to go on right before the touring bands played!! And that was nice because we had good size crowd watching. I'll update the pics as soon as I get them! Next show with The Broken January 30th at Bogies opening for Days of the New!!! 12/08/10 Rumor has it that WEQX played Closer again yesterday at 11am!!! Several sources say... I have Taproot tickets. Only about 5 and they're $12. I will bring them to the show. Text me and I or someone will run one out for you! 12/07/10 My sister stopped by to do a photo shoot for me. Her business is starting to pick up as she is doing professional photography now. You can see her website by clicking this link or see the results of my photo shoot in the gallery on joenacco.com!! The Closer video has been up two weeks and has a little over 300 plays, moving it into the top 4 ever played for us. I imagine as we continue to promote it, it will end up being our most played of all-time. It is very funny and I laugh every time I see it. WEQX is even talking about it outside of the local show!! Which brings me to CRUMBS Radio. We have the top played song and the top played artist for this week. If you haven't seen all of this please check out the link above to "all things Closer." This Sunday I will be playing with the band The Broken at Bogies. We are opening for Taproot. I have also been asked to come back and play 2 more shows with them. One in January opening for Days of the New and another in February at the Armory for Capital Underground's FYE show with Ralph Renna as the host. Click this link to check out The Broken! Things are going well!! 12/04/10 I just got word from Jason Irwin that Closer will debut on WEQXposure this Sunday night at 7pm!! Many thanks to Jason who's been a great supporter of ours for a long time! I remember when Jason first took over WEQXposure from Andy, Jason interviewed me on our release of The Head of a Monkey!! That's going back and it's great how the program continues to grow... anyway here is a link to WEQX Streaming! Rob and I will continue to work on more and more promotional ideas for Closer and we will update you right here on joenacco.com as well as Facebook and Twitter! 12/02/10 Go have a look at CRUMBS we're the featured artist on the front page radio player, my handsome mug is on the front page and Closer was added to the playlist! Go have a listen! Also, if you have an iPhone we have a free ringtone of Closer for you. Scroll up!! 11/29/10 The show was a good time and some of our favorite people showed up and so I put some pictures up in the gallery! Go have a look... I only have a few official stats but those numbers indicate the release of "Closer" was our biggest success to date. The video has been up a week and already has 20% of the views our most successful video has had in two years! But more important it is my daughter's new favorite video, who at 18 months keeps pointing to my iPhone saying "Daddy, Daddy" and won't stop saying it until I play the Closer video. The song became our top selling song on Amazon and iTunes in a few days, which is no easy feat because I'm An Alcoholic has done great on iTunes! I've also had more feedback from people than I usually get (particularly on the video). And we did this all with just word of mouth (Facebook, emails, website, etc...). We have yet to conduct a media campaign, which should begin this week. This warms my little heart because the Joe Nacco Band seemed to be getting in a rut a few months ago and we all just thought maybe time had passed us by! This should motivate us for much more activity this year. So everyone who bought the single or watched the video (especially those who wrote in or passed a compliment) I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart! SEE YOU SOON! 11/23/10 A long winded statement by Joe Nacco... DIY (Do-it-yourself) Artists Only 10 years ago my band and I recorded on a 4 track machine. I invested in a $600 CD burner and dropped off copies at local music stores. My buddy from public access got the VHS promo video of us performing in my living room and aired it on public access. All of this was ahead of the times because most DIY (indie) artists paid $10,000 to record, replicate and distribute a music release. Today… “Closer” Single released today worldwide on iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, Verizon Music Store and more!! We finally got a release date!! Today (11/23/2010) the single for Closer was released by Jay Knack Records worldwide with all the other Tuesday music releases. Whichever online music retailer you prefer, please visit it today and search “Joe Nacco Closer” and buy our song. It’s only 99cent!! The single was made over the last month on my 24 track machine and mixed on my laptop. Mark Johnston laid down a dope bass line and our interim drummer Dick dropped the beat. Total costs? Mark’s gas to travel to my house, which may rival that CD burner. iTunes link! “Closer” single for free on Amazon!! What is the best thing about releasing music the week of black Friday? We all win! Amazon.com is giving away 3 free MP3s this week. We get paid and you get the single for free!! Doesn’t get any better than that! And if everyone in the country does this we will have the number one single this week and about 210 million dollars!!! Link on how to get your code applied. Link to Joe Nacco's Closer on Amazon “Closer” Video released in HD on YouTube If you are friends with us Facebook then you already know we released the video yesterday and shared exclusively with our Facebook likers. So if you don’t like us yet, go like us! We had a ton of fun shooting this video. The plot focuses on our interim drummer and how we came about meeting him. We shot this video in HD on my digital camcorder and mixed it all down on my laptop. Total costs? 3 Mike’s Hot Dogs and Rob’s gas to travel downtown. If you haven’t seen this yet, here is the link… Closer in HD on YouTube Single Release Show We will be at Centerfield’s this Saturday performing and celebrating this wonderful week! Come join us. Check out this link for more info! Link to upcoming shows Thank you and Summation There has never been a better time to be an artist. We have been able to focus all our energy on one good song and video (the single is back!) instead of writing a bunch of filler to get an album together! Thank you to Ava and Ashley for the artwork! Thank you to Mark and Rob for their participation in the recording of the music and video! This was the best time I’ve had musically in a long time and maybe ever!! Love always, Joe Nacco 11/16/10 We've got two pieces of big news for you... New Joe Nacco single "Closer" to be released on iTunes 11/23/2010; plus video! Mark Johnston (bass), Dick (session drummer) and I have completed the recording of our new song Closer, a mid tempo blues-based rock song with an unusual amount of guitar solos on it. Barring any unforeseen circumstances the single will be released on 11/23/10 with all the other Tuesday releases on iTunes. We also have plans to shoot the Closer video this Sunday and hopefully have it ready for release on the same day. This is the first single in a year and a half and a lot of work has gone into this song. My personal vision is to incorporate the "80's guitar solo" into mainstream music and see if that works for anything other than comedy! Joe Nacco to play guitar for The Broken on 12/12 the night they open for Taproot! My good friend Chris Itani's new band The Broken have been making a lot of waves lately. They have an EP due out this month with a bunch of incredible songs. They also have a handful of really big shows coming up including their 12/12 show at Bogies opening for the very popular national band Taproot. I am extremely honored that Chris and his band have asked me to join them on rhythm guitar for the night. I have left a link to their website that has a few songs steaming on it. If you'd like advanced tickets for $12 instead of $15 at the door, send me an email and we can work it out! The Broken's Official Website 11/09/10 Mark and I have just about wrapped up the basic tracking for a new single called "Closer." I haven't written or recorded anything since we released Souls about a year and a half ago (we used to drop an album a year in the old days). So with plenty of time to write and develop, this song is really taken shape. We're also planning on recording a video for the single and releasing the song on iTunes. Hopefully we'll get this all wrapped up by December 1, 2010! We have been using a session drummer for the recording and for the video. He only wishes to go by the monikor "Dick." He seems like a nice enough guy but unless he can pull a Michael Keaton he's won't be able to join the band full time. However, we seem to be getting closer to announcing our new full time drummer. Stay tuned for that! 10/26/10 Centerfield's was a success. People always enjoy the acoustic format and we haven't done one in a while. I have posted pictures in the gallery from the show. The band Wild Cargo was also very good and the crowd really seem to enjoy them. Thanks to Chaos for making it happen. See you in November!! 10/21/10 Hello everyone! Mark and I will be doing an acoustic duo at Centerfield's on Saturday October 23rd 9pm!! Make sure come see this rare arrangement. It won't last forever!! 08/25/10 Trick Shots was a great time. Boy what a nice crowd they have there. Very appreciative of their music. Met a lot of great people and hopefully we'll rebook some time in the winter. Big shout out to Ralph Renna for the show! I dropped some pics on our photo page. ' Unfortunately we had to cancel the two shows we had and replace them with one show at Jay's Bar and Grill in Ballston Spa on Sept 3, 9pm. Check the show page for more details and see you soon! 08/19/10 The Great Escape show was a great success. The weather cooperated for us, which is a miracle in itself after all our years of bad luck. Maybe Mark is our lucky charm?!?! Either way I have posted pics from the show on this site and on Facebook. We have two more shows before Paul goes on vacation for a while so please try to catch one of them. Details on the 'shows' page. 08/11/10 We added a very special show for September to our lineup. Paul will be out of town so Mark and I will be doing an acoustic-like set during Octoberfest at Great Escape. Nice to get rebooked when you haven't even played yet! Check the "shows" page for more details... And just a reminder, this Saturday is our first show at Great Escape featuring the full band. I still have coupons if you want to email me I can mail them out to you for free. Just send me a line at joenacco@yahoo.com Thanks!! 07/27/10 Two shows added! Trick shots on August 21 and Centerfield's on August 27!! Details on the 'shows' page... 07/26/10 Northern Lights was fantastic and it was the best we've played yet. The new band is really tightening up and we couldn't be more proud! We got a ton of pictures up on the "photos" page if you want to have a look! Next up... The Great Escape!! August 14!! 07/20/10 We will be at Northern Lights this Saturday and it is looking like we go on around 5pm. If anyone is interested we have tickets for $8 and can get them to you upon arrival (will call). If you pay at the door it will be $12. Please email me at joenacco@yahoo.com. Thanks for your support! 07/10/10 We just posted some pictures of Bogies in our gallery. Just a few to let you know we were there. Paul and I have been modeling Dudestyle clothing (local extreme sports apparel company). They're making a big splash and we're glad to be a part of it. We have some great shows coming up. Please check the dates page. If you want to go to Northern Lights please contact me so I can get you the discounted price. Also we have joined facebook and twitter finally and the links are on the front page of joenacco.com as always, thanks for your support!! 07/03/10 Please click this link and vote for the Joe Nacco band to open for Bon Jovi!! We got a few great shows coming up. We just added Northern Lights and the Great Escape to the list of summer shows. We're very excited, please check the dates page for all the details!! 05/16/10 Just wanted to throw out a thanks to those who attended the show at Centerfield's. We deem it a big success. I believe we have shaken all the rust off at this point. I have posted a bunch of pics in the gallery. If you were there, you may be on our gallery! 04/29/10 Just wanted to thank everyone who came out to Proctor's, I saw a lot of familiar faces out there and a lot of new ones too!! The show was a huge success and there were a lot of good vibes out there. We sold out of the storied "Joe Nacco Band" t-shirt supply and about 20+ CDs. Channel 6, 9 and fox23 were out there getting footage. I managed to get a quick shot on fox 23's late night news. Here is the link to 518fever's hosting of the news segment. Right around the 30 second mark you'll see a familiar face. Please visit our gallery, there are a lot of new photos of the show! Also we have two new show announcements. We'll be at Centerfield's (Sch'dy) with reaLation on May 14 and with reaLation again at Bogey's (Albany) on July 9. The dates are starting to come in now, so make sure you check back often for a show near you. One final line... I have been saying for a while that we'd be up and running again and it is finally happening. I've been through a lot of positive and negative things over the last couple years and it's good to be back! 03/20/10 I have just received confirmation that the Joe Nacco Band will be playing a benefit show for Thacher Park at Proctor's in Schenectady on April 24, 2010. The show runs 5-10pm and Lunic and What She Said will also be performing with 518Fever sponsoring. The order of the bands has not been set. This is the first show of what should be many shows to come for us this year. It's good to be back and for a good cause. Hope to you all soon! Here's a link to the Times Union Blog in regards... 02/03/10 I am looking at the last post and realizing how long it has been since I recorded "Souls!" Anywho, we have been hard at work putting together the best band I have ever been in. I've had enough things blow up in my face over the years, I figured I'd wait to announce this until it was concrete. Without further ado, I am pleased to announce the new Joe Nacco Band featuring Mark Johnston (bass) and Guy Gramley (drums). I have posted a picture on the band page of this site. You can also check the MySpace page and YouTube page for video, audio and more pics that were shot this past weekend. Rob and I will be booking some shows over the next few weeks and I will announce. We will be doing a series of shows with another recently reformed Upstate NY band reaLation. My good friend Vince (reaLation.) has been working with me and Rob to come up with some great show ideas. Please have a look! Thanks for checking this site even though I barely update!! 06/14/09 I have posted another song called "Souls" on Myspace and right here on the mp3 page of joenacco.com. This is definitely the best of the latest batch of songs I've been working on. Hopefully I'll get back to playing some "joe nacco" shows soon, but I've been saying that for a long time. If nothing else there will be more songs to come. Lately, I've been playing bit roles in 2 other bands. I started playing drums in a fresh new start-up original band. There's no name but we got about 4 songs and what looks to be a solid lineup and a GREAT sound. I am also currently filling in on rhythm guitar for the Fizziks (classic rock cover band) where needed. We'll be at the Flightline Pub on Friday. Hope everyone is happy out there in all their adventures. 05/12/09 I posted a new song on MySpace (and here as the MP3 of the month) today called "California." As I was driving back to NY from Cali, this song just popped into my head, which is unusual because I usually fiddle with the guitar or piano and find some catchy diddy to base songs around. I had originally intended for it to be on This is California but couldn't get it done until now. Enjoy! Once again, big shout out to Paul Salamone for the drum lessons and letting me rob all his beats! 03/22/09 It's been a while since I sent out a message here, but I have been blogging and twittering and every other new word that comes to my mind. We fulfilled our show at Hotshots. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed us. There were times I felt I was at Sportsworld, which is a great reminder why it's best that Sportsworld closed down! Unfortunately Stript Smyle had to back out at the last minute. We played for about two hours and then Rock Band tookover! Vince says we will be the last breed of real musicians with Rock Band and Guitar Hero dumbing down the teenage hopefuls. Vince also claims that as a result we will be able to make mad cash with the smaller pool. I don't do drugs and never have, so maybe I will be the last musician standing! Like Bruce Willis in that cheesey movie that my dad loved! You readers take care of yourselves. The Albany St Music Club has a gathering tonight and Chris Itani from Stript Smyle will be joining us for the recording session. If we get something good, you will definitely hear it. 02/28/09 I have just posted Paul Salamone's first single "Blue Suede Shoes" which I produced, engineered, mixed, mastered and sang backup for Jay Knack Records. Aegis Bonesteel (Aegis Bonesteel Experiment) is playing guitar. Vincent Lane (reaLation/The Fizziks) is playing bass. We simulated a live setting to capture the 50's sound and I dusted off the old school mixing effects to capture the sound. Paul is the extremely talented drummer that I have been working with for the last 10 years. I am proud and honored to be a part of this song and the album we are working on. We hope to be done by late spring. 02/25/09 Sunday was a big day in the production department as we we're not only able to squeeze a single out of Mr. Salamone, I think we also have a clearer expectation of where the solo album is going. Hopefully, this week the kind people at Jay Knack Records will release a sample?!?! Oh wait... that's me! 02/16/09 My brand new expermental single "There is a Girl" debuted on WEQX last night and will stay in rotation for a while. It certainly will help if you call the station and request the song! The official release will be following soon. Please check here and MySpace often, as I assure you it will just sort of pop up! Yesterday was also a landmark day since we began production on Paul Salamone's solo debut album "Everything in Excess." Hard to say when we will be done, but the first song is ready to go now. Stay tuned... 01/27/09 I have just completed a very special song using a special style of recording called 'modular recording.' It is an incredibly challenging style of recording. I've essentially recorded four pieces of music reflecting four different styles of music based on the same theme, and glued them together to make one 3 minute 'pop symphony.' This allows for better movements and textures. It also allows your music to go places it normally couldn't. If done properly you have a masterpiece (i.e. Good Vibrations, A Day in the Life). If not, you are sitting a piles of tapes losing your mind (i.e. SMiLE). Figures such as Brian Wilson and The Beatles used this style due to recording limitatons which is now a thing of the past. However, when recording all the instruments yourself, a similar limitation exists. Usually I finish a song in a week or less, but due to this process it has taken a little over a month and cost most my free time. I have previously made several attempts to do this and always scrapped it. The song never came out right and seemed messy. This was most likely due to forcing the process. During the writing phase of "There is a Girl" I realized modular recording would be required to get to the finish line. When it seemed to be actually coming together, I started obsessing like a madscientist locked in my studio making sure every part was played and sung perfectly and had the right effects in all the right places. I think the results are great and I'm very proud of the song. Hopefully this song will be the cornerstone of a beautiful album for 2009. 12/24/08 I'd like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!! My gift to you in my new Christmas single "Jingle Bell Rock" exclusively for download FREE right here on the "mp3s" page. We are still hard at work gearing up for a successful 2009. I am very pleased with the way the two albums were received this year. Thank you for your continued support! HEAD reuinion show at Northern Lights announced, please visit the "dates" page for tickets and details! 11/25/08 Been busy. We are reforming HEAD for a series of shows in 2009, which will be our 10th anniversary! Paul and I have brought on board Aegis Bonesteel. All three of us will be playing a variety of instruments and singing but I'll mainly be doing my best Sting with Paul on drums and Aegis on guitar. For more info please visit our new MySpace page (and add us). And keep checking back. 11/09/08 We are currently retooling for 2009. We're planning to take on a bunch of shows for the new year and really get back in the swing of things. Right now we're in the process of auditioning bass players. We posted an ad and had so many folks respond it's kind of difficult getting our schedules together, but we're getting closer. I posted a new song on myspace, it's an official one man band song I wrote last week. Check it out if you'd like. Any other updates will be posted right here. 10/03/08 We've launched our record label website... Please visit jayknackrecords.com for more info!! Rare solo show... this Sunday!! Check the dates page... 10/01/08 I made some slight updates to the studio and did a few songs as a test. Nothing too serious, but one of them is posted as the new MP3 of the month. Have a listen and then have an english muffin. 09/30/08 There's a new song posted on my MySpace page and another one posted on our band's MySpace page. Look for Big Clinton in my top friends. Peace b*tches.. 09/06/08 Apologies for the confusion but the Savannah's show has been cancelled due to a double booking. I feel bad for Savannah's because whoever they booked first probably won't bring to the table what this show would've. Chris is looking elsewhere for something. So the show will happen down the road. Thanks for your patience. 08/28/08 The Northern Lights show was a great success! I believe over $3000 was raised at the door and we did our part and I want to thank everyone who showed up on our behalf! Thank you!! The very talented Chris Dukes has asked us to do a show with him on September 19th at Savannah's and we have gladly accepted. Hope to see you there!! 08/20/08 There is a new show posted on the "dates" link above! Please check it out. I'm very late in posting it... 08/10/08 We finished mixing "Imagine" last night and it came out very well. I put it up on the "FREE MP3 of the Month" page on this site as well as every other MySpace page due the vested interest of all parties. The lineup for the song is listed on the MP3 page, go have a look. 08/04/08 The Linda was a great success. Big turnout. Thanks to everyone who came out. There's a performance of Crazy Scientologist posted on myspace for anyone interested. Also posted some pictures shot by my good friend Al. Paul Salamone has recruited a bunch of us to play on a cover of John Lennon's "Imagine." We head to the studio tonight. As soon as I get a copy I will post. Be good. 07/04/08 Don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years. July 24th at the Linda in Albany. Call it "CRUMBS Nite-Out." Call it a CD release party? Call it "The Comeback Show." Just like Elvis, except I'm phatter yo! Happy Independence Day! Fist-bump the ones you love! 06/20/08 Everyone have a spenldid weekend. Everyone in our band is real busy with summer stuff. We'll be getting back together shortly for rehearsals for the fall tour. Peace. 06/13/08 R. Kelly is free and Tim Russert is dead! What more could I possibly say? Happy Friday the 13th... 06/06/08 I have no comment on the democratic primaries other to say that I wish I would've been a fly on the wall at Feinstein's house last night... Someone stole my debit card information and went to a gas station in Queens, NY. I guess if you're gonna steal money that's place to spend it. Who wants to spend their own money on gas these days. Thank you George Bush, Dick Cheney and the rest of your oil buddies for increasing gas crimes!! 05/30/08 John Locke is dead?!?! Two more seaons! Not too much to report this week really. Still rehearsing. Fixin to play some shows. Right now Paul, Vince and I are so into summer sports that I think we're gonna hold off a lot of shows until it gets cold, like a bunch of snow monkeys! 05/22/08 $4.05 for a gallon of gasoline!! How exciting!! I moved close to work so I don't have to give these f&*^ers my money. I'm also about to sell my car and buy a motorcycle. Our little band practiced again this Sunday in preparation for some big shows comin up. Everyone and their additions really make for a nice sound. It's really exciting! Almost as exciting as paying $4.05 for a gallon of gas! 05/14/08 I'm real wrapped up in the Democratic primaries. As much as I get caught up in his powerful speeches, I really don't feel Obama is the right guy for us now. With the state our great nation is in I really feel we need someone with a lot of experience because it will be a big task to turn it around. I like the Clinton's and what they did for us in 90's and I'm hoping something will turn around or we'll at least get Mrs. Clinton as VP. Sorry for my little political speech, I hate when musicians do that... Not too much cookin' this week. Another random 100 views for the "Who You Once Were" video today. I really don't know where they are coming from. Today from noon to 6pm almost 100 people viewed it?!?! I got a ton of CDs mailed out to some radio stations that have signed on for airplay. We are also about to launch the official website for Jay Knack Records. It will be a work in progress. If you would like to check everyday and watch it grow, it will be jayknackrecords.com! Thanks for stoppin' by! 05/08/08 Everything was a smashing success. The video is nearing 600 plays in just one week, we sold a ton of iTunes and we've almost sold out of the first run of CDs (I just put an order in for a run of both CDs)!! Many thanks to those who did any of the former! We will be turning our promoting attention now to radio airplay and show booking for late summer/fall touring. If you haven't had a chance to check it all out, go to main page and follow the links! As a token of my appreciation I am giving away the radio edit of "Faker" as the free download of the month! It's on the "MP3" page of this site and I have turned it on for free on MySpace. Thanks again! The band is hard at work and they have quickly grasped about 5 of the new songs. Since we've been playing together forever, we also know a ton of really shady cover songs!! Woo hoo. See ya soon! 04/30/08 Tomorrow is the big day! Everything is in place and tested. Both albums will be available at midnight tonight on CDBaby.com and iTunes!! The videos are complete, edited, all that, and posted on YouTube and MySpace! Links are above. I can't tell you how excited I am. The videos have been well received. Without an annoucement "Who You Once Were" was viewed over 200 times in the 1st three hours and still counting as I write this! I want to thank everyone who's been involved, especially during the video shoots! That was a lot of work. I'm also excited to announce an all-new Joe Nacco Band. Aegis and Paul from Moonshadow and Vince from The Fizziks will be lending a hand in various video and live performances to support the album. These are the most talented musicians I've played with on their respective instruments. I am very fortunate to have them aboard. There are new promotional photos of myself and the band in the gallery!! Thanks and go get your Joe Nacco CDs stat! 04/24/08 Hello everyone, we're one week from the big day!! Several radio stations in North America have added the new stuff to their playlists, prominently in NY and CA, even Canada! I'm headed to NYC Saturday to shoot a video for "Who You Once Were." On Sunday I'll be shooting a video for "Faker" with a bunch of my musician friends from the Albany area. We'll also do some outakes of various live performances of songs to post on YouTube. Show bookings are coming in for late summer and I will announce them when the time is right. Thank you for stopping by!! 04/14/08 My taxes were done weeks ago, so now it's fun time! I have created a YouTube channel for all my broadcasts. I did some generic test runs with my new camera and posted them on said channel. Have a look if you wish. The videos are also posted on MySpace if its easier to view them there. All the links are posted above! I have insurances that the second of the two CDs will be on my doorstep tomorrow morning. This means I will easily meet my personal May 1st deadline for the physical release. iTunes works on its own schedule and I imagine it will just pop up one Tuesday in May. Either way, there will be emails to inform everyone. Please sign up for my newsletter above to get the information instantly! Be good out there and go check my latest additions to the "link" page. Thanks... 04/09/08 In case you can't tell, I've reworked the layout on this page as well my MySpace page! Woo hoo! I also will have both copies of the new albums back from the manufacturer on Friday! I've been posting more and more details on joenacco.com and my MySpace page. We will begin our full-blown promotional tactics on May 1st when everything ready to go... go, go, go! That's a line from a song I think. Response has been great to the singles and demos and artwork. I appreciate everyone's comments, tips and help... we're finally getting this thing off the ground again! I have also started a "FREE MP3 of the Month" on the "MP3" page. Check it out if you'd like!! 04/02/08 If you've been on my myspace page, or even dropping by here, you realize there's some real stuff going on with the new albums. The artowrk is complete. The order has been placed and very shortly the two new discs will be at my doorstep. There has really been no other official announcement other than what's on myspace. As soon as I have confirmation there won't be any hitches I'll send a mass email detailing the plans. In the meantime go check out the tracks on myspace! Thanks for stopping by... 03/23/08 Joe Nacco Revival? New music brings new interest. The site is hopping again and I'm updating more than once every three months, so that helps too. I'm putting the finishing touches on the graphics for the two new albums. I've decided to pull the free versions, congrats to those who got them. I did leave the acoustic album up for grabs on the mp3 page. I'll probably always keep it there as a freebie for visiting the site. Meanwhile, the new single "who you once were" is posted on myspace. Please have a listen if you haven't already. No word on any shows, not too sure if I'll do that or just continue to post music I've recorded. There will be a physical release in about two months for "No One Likes a Ballad" and "tHe$nOwMoNkEe$" albums. More to come... 03/07/08 Hello everyone, this is my first report in a very long time. I've been all over traveling the country from Hawaii to California to Washington DC to NY. Musically, I don't have much to report other than the fact that I have a lot of music recorded that I need to officially release and will... shortly I swear. I have left California officially and I am back in NY just getting settled and dealing with everything stated on the main page. As soon as I can, I will post anything musically going on. There is a new song posted on my myspace page. All my "officially unreleased" music is available in mp3 format on the mp3 page. Thank you. |
