Running time:
5 min. and 14 secs.

Song notes:
I wrote this one in the summer of 2004. This was a planned out thought. Every one of my old albums has a song in 6/8 time (waltz feel) and I knew this could be no different (Paul loves 6/8 songs, so I knew he'd love this one). This time I think I really nailed the whole idea of a 6/8 song. The feel matches the losing lyrics and I think it builds nicely. This is my father's favorite jam on the LP.

Production notes:
This song got recorded twice. The first time through it had a piano and a string section and I just thought it went against my idea of a 6/8 song. Paul says this is a monster ballad from the 80's, I get more of that country-esque ballad feel from a 6/8 song so I don't see it as much. This is the best guitar solo I ever wrote and played. "It's OK" is close but it doesn't quite have the emotion this one does. Alot of people close to the project think this and "It's OK" are going to do quite well for us.

This is the hardest song to sing on the album. Alot of note holding going on here!

Lyrics:
Is it something I said, anything I can do?
I just wanted to be, everything to you
I'm just a fool cause I never say
The things that feel and I want you to stay
But I can't go on if we just keep going this way

You don't belong to me
You don't belong to me, to me anymore

Everytime I'm alone, all I think of is you
Give me something to say, give me something to do
I'm just a man, who live on deceit
That love finds a way to make people see
And I can't go on if I just can't make you believe

You don't belong to me
You don't belong to me, to me....

Baby I'm not fooling around, and there aint nothing to see
Everytime that I touch you, I'm going to make you believe

(80's monster ballad guitar solo)

I'm just a man who never will bend
On fighting for love as it comes to an end
ut I can't go on, when failure's destroying amends

You don't belong to me
You don't belong to me, to me anymore
